Apple’s new journaling app is here, and it’s great, but we have one major problem with it
Apple's new journaling app finally arrives
Apple journal app against blue background

Apple's new journaling app, Journal, promises Apple users an easier way to record and organize their thoughts, experiences, and memories. There's just one thing we can't wrap our head around — it's only available for iPhone users, meaning you can't get it on a Mac.

While being able to jot down your thoughts on the go is convenient, limiting Journal to iPhones isn't merely an accessibility issue. For many, journaling is a way to escape the distractions of their devices and engage in reflective, mindful writing. With a phone in hand, notifications are hard to ignore, and tapping out entries on a tiny screen feels like a chore compared to the flow of pen on paper or the rhythm of keys.

Apple Music finally got a fan-fave Spotify feature but it’s buried in the app’s settings — how to turn it on
Now you can be the DJ with Apple Music
A person listening to music on their iPhone.

Apple loves to drop updates, telling us our phone is going to do it in the middle of the night (it never does) and then not telling us what's new. We just get to find out along the way when using it. Like, oh, wow, a few new emojis or the ability to set more than one timer is finally a thing. Unfortunately, that means a lot of fun stuff falls through the cracks, and iPhone users don't find out about it until later, and only by accident. There's one thing with the iOS 17 update you'll want to check out now, especially if you love listening to music on your phone. If you've been a Spotify fan because you wish Apple Music would get a little better, they secretly did.

The feature we all missed
Spotify users are hardcore, living to see that end-of-year wrap-up showing the top songs and artists that got them through the year. There's nothing like being attacked by your phone, letting you know you listened to Taylor Swift for more hours than you went to work. But one feature users love on Spotify is the crossfade function.
Why crossfade is awesome
You know how you hate that awkward silence while the one song you are listening to is ending, but your device hasn't started the next song? You just sit there. Your body might even pause, waiting for your ultimate 2000s jams to start back up so you can continue cleaning during your dance performance. Crossfade helps with that.

Apple has a classical music app you’ve probably never heard of, and just purchased a record label to support it
Apple says it now has the most classical music of any streaming service
Portland, OR, USA - May 7, 2023: Apple Music Classical and Apple Music app icons are seen on an iPhone. Apple Music Classical is a brand-new standalone streaming app for classical music lovers

Amazon Music, Spotify, or Apple Music — whether you're grinding through your work commute or unwinding in your safe space at home, music is a part of that, and your favored streaming app is how you listen to it. Some of us like to rock out to get mentally psyched for the workday, and some want to soothe their souls on the way home. While classical music may not be everyone's first choice when planning a playlist, it's grown in popularity over the last few years. Through social media like Instagram and TikTok, classical music is getting recognized more and more, and Apple wants it to get even bigger with an app you may not know it already released.
