We bet you think camping means dull gear, signified by tents and backpacks that look — well, anything but cool. Now North Face, one of the world’s premiere leaders in outdoor gear, has a new line that will make your gear easy to spot, and a lot more fun. Called the North Face Homestead Collection, the line adds a little pizazz to typical camping gear, thanks to designs by 3D illustrator Timothy J. Reynolds.

Here’s the word from North Face: “New for outdoor enthusiasts seeking a shared outdoor experience is The North Face Homestead Collection. This line features high-quality car camping gear that’s brings smart design and a disruptive visual aesthetic to the campground while reimagining what campsite gear should be for a new generation heading into the outdoors.”

First in the collection is the Homestead Roomy 2, which is named because, it is actually roomy. It has all the features you want in a two-person tent, and has 50 percent more room than your regular tent for two people. It’s so big that even a queen-sized inflatable mattress. Top that up with the Homestead Twin sleeping back, and comes in 20- and 40-degree offerings. Each sleeping bag is sized to fit a twin mattress, but users can zip two together to make one queen-size bag.

If you want a covered hang-out area, there’s the Homestead Shelter, which, according to North Face, is “a weather resistant social hub perfect for stepping out of the sun or rain and designed to fit around most picnic tables.”

Getting that fire started is a crucial skill for camping enthusiasts for warmth, cooking, and campsite ambiance. This fire starting hack is one that seasoned campers swear by. Is this common household item the ticket to an incredible campfire? Here's everything you need to know.
How to use Vaseline to start your campfire

At its core, Vaseline is a blend of mineral oils and waxes, which creates a semi-solid jelly-like substance. Its primary use is as a skin protectant, but its highly flammable properties make it an excellent accelerant for fire starting. When applied to a suitable medium that can hold and slowly release the jelly (like cotton balls), it burns more steadily and for a longer duration, making it just the trick to get your campfires going.

What's cracking with this egg
If it's not broken, don't fix it, right? But even the littlest changes will make something feel fresh. For those who aren't the best at starting a fire and keeping it going, the Chiminea comes with Lava Rocks to keep the flames roaring more evenly and for longer. Made from NASA-grade ceramic, the quality isn't something to worry about, either. And, yes, it's still in that gorgeous, signature deep green color.
