Just in time for their bitterest stretch of winter, premium alpine sportswear brand Alps & Meters has just released their FW15 Forged Performance Collection.

“The consistent feedback and intrigue surrounding that vintage sweater lead me to the conclusion that a gap existed in the marketplace for traditional alpine sportswear garments,” explains Alps & Meters founder Louis Joseph. “In contrast to the existing outwear market, which is highly synthetic, brightly colored, and extreme in nature, Alps & Meters has approached its product creation efforts by devising a philosophy called Forged Performance. We focus on combining classic garment construction techniques, natural materials, and contemporary technologies to provide first class on-mountain fit and protection.

For those not keen on hibernation, Alps & Meters has created a line inspired by simple, timeless alpine traditions, focusing on garments that fuse high-quality materials with classic construction methods.

The result: A line of jackets, trousers, sweaters, and accessories tailored with contemporary technologies that deliver optimum fit and the necessary protection whether simply braving the frigid outdoors or eclipsing the Swiss Alps.

Pieces include the Shawl Collar Jacket, combining traditional knitwear and rich leatherwork with waterproof contemporary technologies, the Alpine Winter Trouser, marrying a blended wool water repellent exterior with interior waterproof membrane, the Alpine Anorak, featuring a fortified British Millerain waxed canvas exterior, modeled on historic design worn by the US 10th Mountain Division Alpinists, and the Alpine Guide Sweater, ​which combines the engineered comfort of lambswool knitwear with waxed cotton.

The collection also feature additional alpine sport-inspired accessories including the Classic Pom Hat made from 100% lambswool and the Alpine Winter Collar, tailored with a signature performance cut, maximizing both warmth and protection.

“My favorite piece from our current collection is the Shawl Collar Jacket,” Joseph tells us. “This particular product was the very first style concept created by Alps & Meters; its unique combination of knitwear body, protective leather paneling, and internal windproof/waterproof membrane were all originally inspired by the vintage ski sweater found in Are, Sweden. Overall, the Shawl Collar Jacket embodies the traditional and authentic values of the Alps & Meters brand.”
