Shortcut: The App That Brings the Barber to You

Most grooming establishments maintain hours that don’t work for the average working stiff. For the 9-5 guy who prefers to leave his grooming needs in the hands of a professional, getting a haircut usually means spending a lunch hour or a precious weekend afternoon planted in the barber chair. Until now.

A new app called Shortcut makes summoning a talented barber to your home, office, or hotel as easy as ordering an Uber. Shortcut is the brainchild of three friends, Irvin Slobodskaya, Will Newton and Jeff Umansky, and born out of personal necessity. “I had grown frustrated by the fact that often times my busy schedule prohibited me from getting an appointment at my favorite barbershops, especially when I really needed a cut quickly and I didn’t have time to plan ahead,” says Slobodskaya. “After talking to friends, family and colleagues, I realized there was a void in the market and that’s how it began.” So the trio made it way more convenient to get a trim: Simply complete a brief profile and a barber, picked based on your needs and location, will be delivered to your door like a pizza for slightly more dough ($75 to be exact). And this can all be done between the hours of 8am and midnight.

Men’s skin is thicker, and that’s just one of several important biologically-based gender differences. They all matter when it comes to your skincare routine, too, so we enlisted the help of Dr. Jarett Casale, a board-certified dermatologist and Mohs surgery fellow, to give us some help on how to use these differences to get the best results.
