If you’re a tequila and cognac fan, you’re going to be pretty excited to learn about what two well-known spirits brands are cooking up. Tequila Ocho, well-known for its single-field, estate tequila, is partnering with renowned house Ferrand Cognac to launch a limited-edition, small batch añejo tequila.
Tequila Ocho Barrel Select Añejo

It’s called Tequila Ocho Barrel Select Añejo, and it begins with tequila distilled from 100% Blue Weber agave grown on Rancho Las Raices near Tequila Ocho’s home of Tequilera Los Alambiques. After distillation, it’s aged for a minimum of a year in seasoned French oak cognac barrels from Ferrand Cognac. The barrels were sourced from France’s Charente region and brought over 5,000 miles to the Highlands of Jalisco to age this remarkable expression.
According to Tequila Ocho, the result is an 88.8-proof, smooth sipping tequila that begins with aromas of dried cherries, ground cinnamon, burnt cajeta, celery, cilantro, green guava, and a dash of wet earth. The palate is a symphony of flavors, including salted caramel, slight minerality, cooked agave, ginger candy, coffee beans, and freshly ground sawdust. The finish is long, warm, and leaves you craving more. Best enjoyed neat or on the rocks, this is the type of tequila you’ll want to sip around your summer campfire.
It only makes sense that these two families would come together to create such a unique expression. Ocho co-founder and Maestro Tequilero Carlos Camarena is a fifth-generation agave grower. Ten generations of Ferrand sons have carried on the tradition of crafting award-winning cognac along with renowned Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel.
“Among the many things our families have in common is taking great care to honor the generations that came before us and laid the groundwork for us to thrive doing exactly what we love,” says Camarena.
“This collaboration represents the latest chapter in our respective legacies, and we look forward to sharing the story with everyone.”
