If you already enjoy the popular Michter’s 10 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon (or any other Michter’s expression), you’re going to be fairly excited to learn the iconic Kentucky-based distillery is set to launch a bourbon whiskey that spent twenty years maturing.
Michter’s 20 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Unsurprisingly, it’s called Michter’s 20 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon, and it’s going to hit store shelves beginning on December 1st, thanks to the approval of Master Distiller Dan McKee and Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson.
Matured for a minimum of twenty years in charred American oak barrels, this rare, limited-release whiskey is known for its complex and memorable flavor profile. According to the brand, this 114.2 expression features a multi-layered palate featuring notes of charred oak, toasted vanilla beans, toffee, chocolate, dried fruits, baking spices, and confectionery notes.
“By law bourbon must be aged in a brand new barrel, which imparts flavor, color and oak character more quickly than a used barrel,” Michter’s President Joseph J. Magliocco says.
“To age a whiskey that will taste wonderful after two decades in a first-use barrel is an extremely difficult endeavor that requires a skillful balance of art and science. I believe that people will appreciate the thoughtful and conscientious work of our production team when they taste this exceptional whiskey,”
Where can I buy it?
Sadly, you won’t be able to simply stroll into your local liquor store and grab a bottle off the shelf. Michter’s 20 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon will be available at bars, restaurants, and select whiskey retailers starting December 1st for a suggested retail price of $1,200 per 750ml bottle.
