There was a time when Dry January recipes seemed few and far between. These days, there are more non-alcoholic drink options than ever, many tasting just as good as their conventional cousins. And thanks to another drop from a top west coast brewery, there’s another solid option to add to the pile.
The non-alcoholic beer is the latest in the long and celebrated line of Space Dust IPAs. Showing grapefruit and pine, the beer has all the flavor of the traditional IPA without the octane. The zero proof release comes at a good time, with folks looking to cut back in the new year.
Elysian has a long history of making intriguing India Pale Ales (including a jasmine rendition this writer still thinks about). The Space Dust series has become one of the most popular lineups in the brewery’s existence. The bold yet balanced IPAs are gold for the many hop-heads out there.
The beer is more proof that even highly-aromatic beers like IPAs can be pulled off as near beers. This has not always been the case, but dozens of brands have stuck the landing as of late. Other standouts include IPAs from Deschutes, Sierra Nevada, and Untitled Art.
Elysian Brewery was born in Seattle back in 1995. Some 20 years later, the bran was acquired by AB InBev. Throughout, the brand has been known for its west coast IPAs, among other styles, and has a large following in the sprawling craft beer sector.
