Fans of long-aged, rare tequila have a new expression to add to their home bar this summer. Código 1530, known for its ultra-premium expressions, is releasing an extremely limited 15-year-old Extra Añejo tequila.

Código 1530 15-Year Extra Añejo

If you’re looking to add a mature, sipping tequila to your collection,  Código 1530 has you covered with its newest expression.  Limited to only 350 bottles worldwide, Código 1530 15-Year Extra Añejo begins with naturally filtered water and fully mature Blue Weber agave. After distillation, it’s matured for 15 years in French white oak Cabernet barrels, then finished for 6 months in French Cognac casks. The result is a multi-layered, memorable tequila that deserves to be sipped neat like  your favorite single malt Scotch whisky or bourbon.

Since this is a rare tequila, the packaging is almost as impressive and elegant as the spirit inside. Instead of simply being packaged as a bottle of tequila, it features a 750ml bottle of Código 1530 15-Year Extra Añejo, two crystal tasting glasses, a handcrafted crystal decanter with a gold-plated stopper, a bespoke presentation case, and a Certificate of Authenticity. This is truly a unique, collectible tequila worthy serious spirits drinkers will want to acquire.

According to Código 1530, this limited-edition expression is bottled at 80 proof and opens with aromas of toasted oak, maple candy, toasted vanilla beans, dark chocolate, and a hint of minerality. Sipping it reveals a velvety-smooth, creamy mouthfeel loaded with flavors of dry plum, cinnamon candy, and charred oak. The finish is long, warm, and smooth, ending with notes of pipe tobacco and oak.

“Our 15-Year Extra Añejo is a singular liquid and, above all, a symbol of patience —fifteen years in Cabernet French Oak and Cognac casks, waiting for the moment it was truly ready,” Federico Vaughn, Código 1530 Tequila co-founder, says.

“This is a tequila made for the connoisseur and the person who understands that the rarest things are never rushed. Some tequilas you drink; this one you remember.”

Where can I buy it?

Código 1530 15-Year Extra Añejo is available in limited quantities at select US spirits retailers for the suggested retail price of $4,100 for a 750ml bottle. For more info on this release and all of the brand’s other expressions, visit codigo1530.com.

Redemption Whiskey’s first bottled-in-bond bourbon is also a single-barrel
Alcohol, Beverage, Liquor

Frankfort, Kentucky-based Redemption Whiskey is releasing its first bottled-in-bond bourbon this fall, and the brand decided to make its debut in the category something extra.

The new Single Barrel Bonded Bourbon comes from a single aging barrel rather than a blend, while still meeting the federal bottled-in-bond standard. That standard is pretty strict: it requires a whiskey to be distilled in one season by one distiller at one distillery, aged at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse, and bottled at exactly 100 proof.

This Isle of Skye Blended Scotch Is For Cigar Smokers — And It’s a Winner
Glass, Alcohol, Beer

If you don’t frequent cigar lounges, you might be surprised by what you see visitors drinking. You’ll have your cigar smokers sipping on cognac. Others prefer whiskey, and some might even have a glass of cabernet. I myself enjoy an espresso or latte with my cigars in the morning, and Coca-Cola in the evenings. The inevitable question is, why? Well, in layman’s terms, I enjoy the buzz I get from smoking a cigar for 45 minutes to an hour, and that buzz alone. I find that drinking whisky numbs my palate and overpowers the complex flavors of a cigar.

Coffee and soda have the opposite effect; they complement my JAVA by Drew Estate and Nub (single roast) sticks. Every now and then I’ll dabble in whiskey when smoking with friends, but those instances are few and far between. I’m set in my ways.
