For this week’s episode of Beards, Booze, and Bacon: The Manual Podcast, Managing Editor Nicole Raney, Food & Drink Editor Sam Slaughter, and our wonderful host, Greg Nibler, chat with the president of Sagamore Spirit, Brian Treacy.

Sagamore Spirit is a Maryland-based rye whiskey producer that has risen through the ranks of Baltimore’s attractions to become the second best destination in the entire city (and that’s just in the first year that they’ve been open)! On the podcast, we discuss Treacy’s career before Sagamore (hint: it doesn’t involve whiskey at all, but it does involve the Grand Canyon), what it has been like to see his company grow, and — most importantly — rye whiskey!

Don’t know what makes a rye whiskey? Never heard of “Maryland-style” rye before? After listening to this episode, you’ll know all of that and more. We will warn you, though: This episode is going to make you thirsty.

The first teaser for Paul Thomas Anderson’s Leonardo DiCaprio movie is here
This is DiCaprio's first collaboration with PTA
Leonardo DiCaprio in One Battle After Another

Few actors have worked with a more impressive lineup of directors than Leonardo DiCaprio, and now, the actor is adding Paul Thomas Anderson to that list. The first trailer for their collaboration, which is titled One Battle After Another, has just dropped, and it suggests that the movie may have more action than some of Anderson's quieter films.

We don't know much about the movie's plot, but the teaser sees DiCaprio wielding a gun as well as the kind of imagery that would suggest plenty of action. We see a woman firing a machine gun, Sean Penn dragging someone away, and DiCaprio contemplatively sipping on a beer. Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Benicio del Toro and  Penn are all set to co-star in the film alongside DiCaprio.

Amanda Seyfried got the offer to play Gamora, but thought ‘Guardians’ would be a flop
She said she mulled the decision for several days before ultimately saying no.
Amanda Seyfried in The Dropout

Many, many actors have joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in one capacity or another, but one of the few holdouts is Amanda Seyfriend. The Mean Girls actress has now revealed, though, that James Gunn offered her the role of Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy, but she turned it down.

“I was really scared of the idea of being stuck and painted a different color because of the amount of time [it takes],” Seyfried said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “It was a giant opportunity. I had just met James in person. He is wonderful. Apparently someone said he didn’t remember but it’s definitely true. I definitely got the offer for it and I mulled over it for a couple days. I didn’t want to live in London for six months out of the year. There was another movie I really wanted to do with Seth MacFarlane called A Million Ways to Die in the West. It felt like a good opportunity.”
