Austrian motorcycle company KTM’s dirt bikes have a reputation for ripping horsepower and world-title-winning performance. Across the world’s motocross tracks and enduro courses, the brand’s orange bikes win titles and provide the thrill of riding off-road. But for the most part, those bikes use 2-stroke and 4-stroke combustion engines.

Now, looking toward the future, the organization’s latest electric off-roader, the 2027 Freeride E, optimizes power, handling, and range, with a variety of improvements over prior versions. Here’s the rundown on the bike’s improved specs.

More Power, Less Weight: What’s New in the 2027 Model

The KTM Freeride E, now more than a decade in production, streaks into 2027 with an array of improvements, including more power, increased battery capacity, and lower weight. Those features combine with the advantages of electric motorcycling: zero emissions, quiet running, and a major fun factor.

The upgraded powertrain uses a dustproof and waterproof motor, now producing 19.2 kW (25.75 HP) and 37 Nm (27.3 ft-lbs) of torque. An MX50 lithium-ion battery provides 5.5 kWh of juice, good for 2-3 hours of off-road thrills. The battery is also swappable and can endure 1,000 charging cycles before fading to 80% effectiveness. Charging time is 8 hours with a 660 W unit, or 1.5 hours with a 3.3 kW unit.

KTM further optimized the package by reducing weight to 112 kg (247 lbs), while the brand’s traditional chrome-molybdenum steel frame provides resilient, accurate handling. The newest-generation WP XACT suspension smooths out the ride, while Braketec hardware and Michelin tires add stopping power and grip.

Riders can pick from three ride modes and three energy recuperation settings to extend range. Additionally, an advanced electronics package includes a “rollover” sensor to enhance safety and adjustable traction control, shown via clear LEDs. Perhaps coolest of all, the Freeride E is road legal, offering dual-sport performance with the low maintenance and efficiency of an electric powertrain.

The 2027 KTM Freeride E offers a compelling choice for those searching for a versatile, sustainable dual-sport motorcycle. Its revised powertrain and motocross/enduro heritage ensure good times on road and off, and its emissions-free operation is a cleaner way to enjoy moto thrills. You can find it at authorized KTM dealers for $9,999 (plus $690 freight).

Arc’teryx x BEAMS: The blend of Alpine tech and Tokyo style
Arc'teryx x Beams

The new Arc’teryx x BEAMS collection celebrates the brands’ 25-year collaboration and the blending of technical function with street-savvy style. The line highlights a re-creation of the 1998 Arc’teryx Theta hardshell, a Gamma softshell jacket, and Jogen bouldering pants. All come in the signature Kōyō color palette, modeled after Japan’s autumn leaves.

I wore the Gamma Jacket and Jogen pants during the fall changeover in Virginia’s picturesque Shenandoah Valley, testing for warmth, wind resistance, and style. Here’s my take.

More than a name: Meet Eddie Bauer, the true-life explorer behind your outdoor brand
Clothing, Hat, Face

From the time I was a little man, I excitedly tugged at the shirt tails of my father and grandfather every time they left the house to do anything relatively outdoorsy. They would leave the house hauling gun cases, fishing poles, camping gear, hiking packs. The men of my life loved everything adventurous, and they would do it every chance they could. When I was big enough, I would be allowed to come with them. I got my own boots. I procured my own active wear that could resist the weather. I opened my own parka for Christmas. Not only was I now in the same boat with them, in the same tent with them, and in the same deer stand with them. I also wore the same brand as them. Eddie Bauer was their go-to, and it had become my go-to.

But what was it about that brand? What was it about the man behind the brand that became the man’s best friend in the wilderness? Well, here is what you need to know about the guy who ditched the work world to open an outdoor brand simply so he could go outdoors all the time. And made it possible for my grandfather, my father, and then me.

Stewart Golf Q Follow Review: The Electric Caddie You’ll Never Want to Leave at Home
Clothing, Footwear, Shoe

I was skeptical about the Stewart Golf Q Follow, but probably not for the reason you’d expect. I already understood the appeal of an electric caddie. What I wasn’t convinced of was whether I could actually live with one.

My sports sedan isn’t exactly a cargo van, and my golf bag already has permanent residency in the trunk. The last thing I wanted was another piece of golf gear that required a game of Tetris every time I headed to the course.
