I tried the Yozma IN10 Pro electric dirt bike, and it was nothing like riding an e-bike

I’ve spent plenty of time riding e-bikes, but I’d never ridden an electric dirt bike before. When I had the opportunity to try the Yozma IN10 Pro, I was curious to see how the two would compare. As it turns out, they’re completely different experiences. The IN10 Pro is fast, surprisingly loud, and considerably more powerful than anything I’d ridden before.

I didn’t push the bike anywhere near its advertised top speed of 50 mph, and I didn’t need to. Even at lower speeds, riding the IN10 Pro was a lot of fun. Between the powerful acceleration, responsive steering, and the way it handled gravel and dirt, there was plenty to enjoy. And despite all that power, the ride was surprisingly comfortable, even over uneven ground. It didn’t take long for me to understand why people love riding dirt bikes.

A powerful electric dirt bike with plenty to offer

The Yozma IN10 Pro is designed specifically for off-road riding, and its specifications make that pretty clear. It features a 5,500-watt peak brushless motor, a 60V 27Ah lithium-ion battery, and a manufacturer-claimed top speed of up to 50 mph. Yozma also advertises a maximum range of up to 60 miles on a charge, although actual performance will depend on factors like riding conditions, riding mode, and how aggressively you’re using the throttle.

The bike rides on a 17-inch front wheel and 14-inch rear wheel, with hydraulic suspension designed to handle uneven ground. It also comes equipped with hydraulic disc brakes and three riding modes, allowing riders to adjust the performance to their comfort level.

Assembly was easier than expected

Despite its size and weight, getting the Yozma IN10 Pro ready to ride was surprisingly straightforward. My husband helped me put it together, and between the two of us, we had it assembled faster than some of the e-bikes we’ve worked on. Considering how substantial the IN10 Pro is, I was expecting a much more involved process, so that was a pleasant surprise.

One thing worth knowing ahead of time is that the lithium-ion battery ships separately from the bike. Mine arrived in its own package, so everything may not show up at the same time.

Another small detail that impressed me was the kickstand. It’s incredibly sturdy and kept the bike feeling stable when parked, which I appreciated considering how heavy the IN10 Pro is.

Three riding modes and a surprising amount of noise

Coming from e-bikes, I was used to relatively quiet motors, but the Yozma IN10 Pro was a completely different experience. My husband described the sound as a “brap,” which is actually a pretty good way to put it. It’s a distinctive sound that gets progressively louder as you move through the bike’s three riding modes, something I wasn’t expecting from an electric dirt bike.

The speed was another adjustment. Although the IN10 Pro is advertised as being capable of reaching up to 50 mph, I didn’t attempt to test that limit. Between the weight of the bike, the gravel and dirt I was riding on, and the fact that this was an entirely new experience for me, I wasn’t comfortable pushing it that far. Even at more moderate speeds, there was plenty of excitement to be had.

Surprisingly comfortable on gravel and dirt

Comfort was another area where the IN10 Pro exceeded my expectations. I spent my time riding on gravel and dirt, and one of the first things I noticed was how much bounce there was in the seat. That might sound like a complaint, but it was actually one of the things I liked most about the experience. The movement felt comfortable rather than jarring, making the ride over uneven ground seem easy.

The tires were another standout. They handled the different surfaces really well, and I was impressed with how the bike felt throughout the ride. The steering was also surprisingly easy to get used to, and the brakes were incredibly quick and responsive. Having that kind of stopping power was reassuring, particularly when I was still getting familiar with the bike.

A few things to know before you ride

As much as I enjoyed my experience with the Yozma IN10 Pro, there are some practical considerations worth keeping in mind. At approximately 143 pounds, this isn’t something you can casually pick up and move around like a traditional bicycle. You’ll want to think about where you’re going to store it and how you’ll transport it, especially since it isn’t street legal. You’ll need access to appropriate off-road riding areas rather than relying on it for commuting or getting around town.

At the time of writing, the Yozma IN10 Pro is low as $1,799, down from its regular listed price of $2,399. That’s a substantial discount for a bike with this level of performance, although it’s worth checking Yozma’s website for the latest pricing and promotions.

For me, the biggest surprise was how much I enjoyed the experience despite having never ridden anything quite like it before. I didn’t need to push the IN10 Pro to its limits to appreciate what it could do, and I liked that I could get comfortable with the basics without feeling overwhelmed.

For anyone interested in getting into electric dirt bikes, the IN10 Pro is worth considering, especially if you have somewhere suitable to ride it. I went into this experience not knowing quite what to expect and came away understanding why people enjoy these bikes so much. There’s still plenty of performance I haven’t explored, but I’m excited to get it out on another trail and see what more it can do.

Arc'teryx x Beams

The new Arc’teryx x BEAMS collection celebrates the brands’ 25-year collaboration and the blending of technical function with street-savvy style. The line highlights a re-creation of the 1998 Arc’teryx Theta hardshell, a Gamma softshell jacket, and Jogen bouldering pants. More than a name: Meet Eddie Bauer, the true-life explorer behind your outdoor brand
Clothing, Hat, Face

From the time I was a little man, I excitedly tugged at the shirt tails of my father and grandfather every time they left the house to do anything relatively outdoorsy. They would leave the house hauling gun cases, fishing poles, camping gear, hiking packs. The men of my life loved everything adventurous, and they would do it every chance they could. When I was big enough, I would be allowed to come with them. I got my own boots. I procured my own active wear that could resist the weather. I opened my own parka for Christmas. Not only was I now in the same boat with them, in the same tent with them, and in the same deer stand with them. I also wore the same brand as them. Eddie Bauer was their go-to, and it had become my go-to.

But what was it about that brand? What was it about the man behind the brand that became the man’s best friend in the wilderness? Well, here is what you need to know about the guy who ditched the work world to open an outdoor brand simply so he could go outdoors all the time. And made it possible for my grandfather, my father, and then me.
