All-new Evotrex Camper might be the world’s first “power-generating” RV

The next-gen towable will rely on a clever gas-electric hybrid power setup for the best of both worlds.

The Achilles heel for most off-grid RVers is the power capacity of their rig. It’s feasible to pack several weeks’ worth of food and water, no matter where you’re headed. But a power setup that’s reliable in any weather just isn’t a reality. Evotrex is looking to change that as early as 2026.

The California-based company’s namesake Evotrex Camper will rely on a hybrid setup that combines a large battery bank with an ultra-quiet gas generator. The latter will be capable of powering the former in scenarios where shore power (i.e., electricity from the grid) isn’t available or on days where inclement weather makes solar energy capture impossible. While official details of the camper are thin, it’s likely to come standard with a substantial solar array to augment this entire setup. It’s a unique design, especially in today’s world where campers demand more on-the-go power, but the overwhelming majority of campgrounds lack electrical hookups.

All-electric RVs have been available to consumers for a couple of years now. The Pebble Flow and Lightship AE.1 Cosmos come to mind, both cleverly maximizing off-grid power delivery. But there are limitations to these setups, even if you’re towing with an electric vehicle. The most notable being the lack of reliable power on fair-weather days. The problem is made worse in especially cold or hot climates, where running the HVAC (either heat or AC) quickly depletes even the largest RV battery banks.

Evotrex is set to debut its first camper at CES in Las Vegas next month, with first deliveries expected sometime toward the end of 2026. That’s an ambitious timeline. But it’s still an exciting next step in the future of serious off-grid RV living.

Steep, Unscripted, and Now Olympic: Freeride’s Big Leap
Outdoors, Nature, Snow

Victor de Le Rue stood in the starting tent atop the Bec de Rosses, 10,574 feet above Verbier, Switzerland, and surveyed the terrain. After some fist bumps, he dropped into the face, with pitches from 45 to 60 degrees, where cliff bands and outcroppings mar the surface like sharks waiting to attack. A place to survive. Instead, he turned it into a playground.

After a quick drop off a narrow outcropping, he surfed through a powder field, approached a snowy ridge, and lept into a backflip with the deftness of a leopard. From there, the dance continued. A backside 360 off a cliff, slashes through wind-whipped snow, and a run-capping drop over an extended rock formation. This is freeride. At once, a demonstration of skill and creativity.
