In the pantheon of single malt Scotch whisky brands, there are few names as timeless as The Glenlivet. While you can’t go wrong with any of its flagship or long-aged expressions, if you really want to get the most out of this iconic brand, you’ll splurge for a bottle of the newest release from its Eternal Collection.
The Glenlivet Eternal Collection, Second Edition, 56 Year Old

This soon-to-be highly sought-after expression was matured for a full fifty-six years. Unsurprisingly, only sixty bottles of this epic whisky will be made available to the public. It was finished in a bespoke cask seasoned with a blend of Oloroso, Pedro Ximenez, and Palo Cortado sherries.
According to the brand, the result is a complex, sublime whisky that begins with a nose of chocolate, red apples, stewed plums, candied orange peels, honey, heather, roasted hazelnuts, and sticky toffee pudding. The palate is centered on notes of apricot, spiced apples, toasted vanilla beans, toasted oak, raisins, and ginger. The finish is mellow and warm, leaving you craving more.
“Crafting a single malt whisky of this age and complexity is a profound privilege,” Kevin Balmforth, The Glenlivet Cask Master, says.
“The 56 Year Old is a true testament to the dedication behind every stage of our process. Through our collaboration with Fredrikson Stallard, we crafted a design that powerfully narrates the liquid’s story to ensure this coveted release achieved its ultimate artistic expression. Together, we have created an incredible visual interpretation of the whisky’s roots and our Speyside home, a true masterpiece for any collector.”
