If your experience with Jack Daniel’s doesn’t go past Old No. 7, you’re really missing out on some exciting limited-edition expressions. A good example is the iconic Lynchburg, Tennessee-based brand’s newest release.

Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series #16

It’s called Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series #16, and it’s a rye whiskey with a mash bill of 70% rye, 18% corn, and 12% malted barley. It’s first matured in new charred white oak barrels before being finished in Southern-style table syrup.

According to Jack Daniel’s, the result is a 111.4-proof rye whiskey with notes of salted caramel, peppery rye, and caramel sweetness. Enjoy it neat, on the rocks, or in cocktails. It’s a great choice for a warming, wintry Old Fashioned or Manhattan.

“The Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series is all about exploring new ideas, and the complex nature of our Tennessee Rye Whiskey makes a great canvas for experimentation,” Byron Copeland, Jack Daniel’s Barrel Maturation Manager and Master Taster, says.

“Thanks to what we can do with our barrels, the finish adds a sweetness and depth that’s completely unique but unmistakably Jack.”

Where can I buy it?

If the idea of sipping a table syrup-finished rye whiskey this holiday season appeals to you, you can purchase a 375ml bottle for the suggested retail price of $44.75 in select Tennessee whiskey retailers and the White Rabbit Bottle Shop in Lynchburg beginning on December 6. For those unaware, this is the same day Jack Daniel’s lit its annual Barrel Tree. For more information on this and other releases, visit www.jackdaniels.com.

While many bourbon giants are pausing production, an independent Kentucky family is doing the opposite.

There's a particular kind of confidence required to build a brand-new distillery in 2026, as the bourbon industry is in the middle of a hard correction.

Jim Beam paused production at its flagship Clermont facility for the entire year, Kentucky warehouses are sitting on a record 16-plus million aging barrels, and U.S. whiskey distillers cut output sharply through 2025 as younger drinkers buy less and the boom-era oversupply works its way through the system.
