We’ve got a great recipe featuring one of the most iconic beer brands on the planet. You know, the outfit behind the phrase “lovely day for a Guinness.” It’s a beer-tastic take on a signature cocktail recipe.
Skip the green beer and go for something a little more crafty. The following drink is easy to make but offers just enough DIY to make it all the more rewarding to drink. Try it out on your neighbor this weekend or make it your signature cocktail for that social gathering you’ve been wanting to host.

Guinness Old Fashioned
This one comes to us from The Factory 380 in New York City and really plays off the partnership of the malty beer and whisky.
Ingredients:
- 2 ounces Jameson
- 1/2 ounce homemade Guinness syrup*
- 2-3 dashes chocolate bitters
- 2-3 dashes orange bitters
*Homemade Guinness Syrup: Bring 1 can of Guinness, 1 cup of demerara sugar, and 1/2 cup of caster sugar to a boil for 8 minutes until the sugar has dissolved and the syrup is bubbling and sticky. Let mixture cool and transfer to a storage container.
Method:
- Place all ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Stir and strain over a large ice cube in a glass and garnish with an orange peel.
