Founded in 2000, Compass Box is the most heavily awarded independent whisky brand in the whole world. It’s a big name in the Scotch whisky world, especially when it comes to fans of nuanced, flavored blended Scotch whiskies. Recently, the iconic brand announced that instead of releasing a new expression, it would instead be launching an AI-powered whiskey guide.

What is Pyxis?

It’s called Pyxis, and it got its name from the constellation that inspired the brand’s identity. At its essence, it’s a first-of-its-kind AI-powered whiskey guide created to make the ins and outs of the world of whisky accessible for everyone. But it’s so much more than a simple virtual whisky guide. Trained by the Compass Box whisky-making team, it’s a conversation tool that understands and speaks multiple languages.

You can ask anything you’d like to know about the whisky world. According to Compass Box, a few examples include “What should I try next?” or “What’s the difference between sherry and bourbon casks?”

The brand says that conversations with you and Pyxis are easy, as if you were chatting with a friend with encyclopedic knowledge of the whiskey world. You can access Pyxis on your phone or via instant messages, like you did in your AOL days.

“For 25 years, we’ve led with flavor and imagination, using clear, familiar language to help people explore Scotch in a way that feels open, intuitive, and genuinely enjoyable,” Racheal Vaughan Jones, CMO at Compass Box, said.

“Pyxis continues that mission – it’s a digital extension of our blending philosophy, meeting people wherever they are on their whisky journey.”

How can I use Pyxis?

Pyxis will be available online, via phone, and in select stores throughout the US and abroad. For more information, visit discover.compassboxwhisky.com.
