Fans of bourbon finished in unique casks will be excited to learn about the newest expression from Barton 1792. This is because the popular distillery just announced the launch of 1792 Cognac Cask Finish. And this isn’t a limited-edition expression either. It’s the first cask-finished whiskey to be added to the brand’s permanent portfolio.
1792 Cognac Cask Finish

Made with the same mash bill, fermentation, and distillation process of its popular 1792 Small Batch Bourbon, it’s matured in charred American white oak barrels before being finished in hand-selected ex-cognac casks for up to six months.
According to the brand, the result is a memorable, balanced 95-proof expression that begins with a nose of cocoa and toffee before moving on to a palate of plum, apricot, cherry, Bananas Foster, and sweet vanilla. The finish is warm, long, and ends with a final flourish of oak.
“We’ve experimented with a range of premium cask finishes, but Cognac immediately stood out for how naturally it complements our Small Batch Bourbon,” Ross Cornelissen, Barton 1792 Master Distiller says.
“Extended finishing in Cognac casks reveals dessert-like notes and layered complexity, while showcasing the full-bodied character of the Small Batch Bourbon and its signature high-rye recipe.”
Andrew Duncan, Global Brand Director at 1792 Whiskey says that this expression ushers in a new flavor chapter of the brand’s story.
“We’re pleased to offer a whiskey that invites both new and experienced spirits fans to enjoy premium cask-finished bourbon. It’s already becoming a favorite among bourbon connoisseurs.”
Where can I buy it?

1792 Cognac Cask Finish is available at select whiskey retailers, bars, and restaurants throughout the US for the suggested retail price of $37.99 for a 750 ml bottle.
