Buck Mason’s Rancher Shirt Delivers Summer Linen With a Western Twist

The LA basics label adds a new linen shirt to its Draped Linen lineup, just in time for the heat.

Buck Mason has expanded its Draped Linen collection with the new Draped Linen Rancher Shirt, taking the cowboy workshirt template and hitting it with their lightweight linen-blend treatment.

The shirt keeps the details that define the silhouette, with pearl snap closures, a curved western yoke, scalloped flap pockets, and three snaps along each cuff.

The new Rancher joins two existing Draped Linen shirts — the Lounge Lizard, a ’50s-inspired cut in a silky rayon-linen blend, and the Deuce Camp Coupe, a midcentury camp-collar style with a slight sheen.

The whole collection runs on the idea of taking lightweight linen blends with a relaxed, slightly draped fit, built for the stretch of summer when anything heavier feels like a punishment.

The Draped Linen Rancher Shirt is available now at buckmason.com, with collection prices starting at $178.

Why It’s a Buck Mason Summer

Here’s the thing about Buck Mason: they’re already one of the most reliable names in American basics.

Founders Erik Allen Ford and Sasha Koehn started the brand in 2013 out of a 350-square-foot Venice, California garage, selling well-made tees and denim. (They famously turned down Robert Herjavec on Shark Tank; the brand now clears north of $100 million a year with 50-plus stores.)

The appeal has always been quality, fairly priced staples that just work, with a back catalog that I love (like last summer’s Carry-On travel suit, for example).

A western linen shirt fits the lane neatly. Western wear has been having an extended moment, and Buck Mason’s version skips the rhinestone shenanigans while keeping the cowboy details.

At more than a hundred and fifty bucks, it isn’t cheap, but that tracks with the brand’s positioning: they’re a full notch above fast fashion, with strong pieces built to outlast a single season.

If you’ve wanted into the western trend without going full Yellowstone, the breathable linen rancher’s neutral palette is about as low-stakes an entry as it gets.

Where to Buy It

The Buck Mason Draped Linen Rancher Shirt and the rest of the Draped Linen collection are available now at buckmason.com, starting at $178.

Adopt your Wimbledon Whites with these stellar summer pieces
Summer is the time for the all white ensemble, take your lead from the best of the best on the court
Adult, Male, Man

The Wimbledon Championships are the oldest of the four Grand Slam tournaments. They have been around since the late 1800s, and if you know anything about events that old, they are steeped in customs and traditions. While I am a huge fan of customs and traditions, I have always thought it odd when players of high-octane sports wear white. It feels like keeping sweat stains would be an utter nightmare. Having said that, Wimbledon requires all participants to wear white. It is what has come to be called the Wimbledon Whites. Now, I am also a huge fan of dressing the part, so I will confess to being guilty of planning an all-white ensemble just in case I ever land an invite to the most prestigious tennis match in the world. Now, if you are cooler than I and have already landed an invite to the tournament, then I have put together the elements of the perfect Wimbledon look.

Your underwear is probably gross now: Embrace the refresh
How long should you wear your underwear? An expert gives us insight.
Clothing, Undershirt, Adult

I am on an underwear kick right now. I can't help it. I have been reevaluating my underwear drawer since I had my conversation with David Ehrenberg, the CEO of Pair of Thieves, earlier this week. I mean, how often do men think about their underwear? The truth is, while we don't think about it often (hopefully you are a little bit after reading my last article with David), I have discovered we actually DO think about it in some ways. We just need to change how we think about it. Ladies, go ahead, ask your guy what underwear he is wearing right now. There will be two answers. 1 - "No clue, what did you buy me?" 2 - "My favorites." We're weird about it. We all have at least one pair we wear all the time. It is our favorite pair. Then we have the others, the ones that are just the day-to-day. And finally, we have the ones we never want to wear, but it's a laundry emergency, so we must. In all likelihood, this pair has been with us since Mom bought them for us. That's right, yeeeeeeeears ago.

Fellas, it's gross. I often think about a movie quote from Smokin' Aces, by the always-great Jeremy Piven. "There is not a laundry detergent or dry cleaning product known to man that will get that out. Suffice it to say, some sh*t, don't wash out." There is a moment in time when your underwear is done for, beyond saving. But, when do you know when to give up on old faithful? David and I hashed it out.
