Breitling Salutes America’s 250th With Two Star-Spangled Avengers

The Swiss watchmaker says it's the only luxury brand with an official America250 collection — and the drop is US-only.

Breitling has unveiled the Avenger America250 — two US-exclusive limited editions marking the country’s 250th birthday this July 4 — and the run sizes are as rare as the date is big.

The Avenger Automatic 42 is capped at 250 pieces, one for each year of independence. The Avenger B01 Chronograph 42 Night Mission is the unicorn: just 50, one per state.

Breitling says it’s the only luxury watchmaker with an official collection tied to the milestone, made alongside America250 itself, the congressionally appointed nonprofit running the country’s semiquincentennial (yes, that’s the actual word for a 250th).

Here’s where it won me over: these aren’t an ostentatious flag-on-the-wrist kind of thing you’d wear once and then park. Both feature a blue dial on a blue calfskin strap with red stitching — subtle, almost stealth even. The patriotism lives on the back.

The chronograph is still the busier of the two, with a black ceramic case and contrasting white subdials. Through its open caseback, the titanium outer ring carries 50 engraved stars, the inscription “One of 50,” and the official America250 logo.

The automatic has a more pared-down look — a clean blue dial with baton hour markers and a date window. Its steel caseback stays closed, engraved with the Liberty Bell and the inscription “Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof,” plus “One of 250” and “July 4, 1776.”

From a horological standpoint, the chronograph packs the muscle, runing Breitling’s in-house, COSC-certified Caliber B01; that’s the same movement The Manual praised when the Avenger collection got its big redesign back in 2023. It carries a 70-hour reserve and a five-year warranty. Meanwhile, the automatic uses the COSC-certified Caliber 17.

The Automatic 42 runs $5,100; the B01 Chronograph, $9,700. Both are available now, US-only, through Breitling boutiques, authorized retailers, and Breitling.com — though with 50 of the chronograph in existence, the concept of “available” is relative.

Why Breitling Is Going All-In on America

This isn’t random flag-waving — it’s business. The U.S. is Breitling’s single largest market worldwide, and the brand has spent the past few years making that plain. The clearest tell was its NFL partnership, producing team watches for nearly every franchise.

An official America250 collection is the logical next step: hitch the brand to a once-in-a-lifetime national moment that, by Breitling’s telling, no other luxury watchmaker bothered to formally claim. The bet seems set to pay off. The semiquincentennial is looking like a commemorative gold rush — expect branded everything between now and July 4. Planting a flag early, and exclusively in the States, is a clean way to stand out before the field gets crowded.

Whether a stealthy red-white-and-blue Avenger reads as patriotism or simply a well-timed flex is up to you. But for the collector who wants the 250th on their wrist, the math is unforgiving: 50 of that chronograph, and they’re not making more.

Where to Buy It

The Breitling Avenger America250 limited editions are available now, US-only, at Breitling boutiques, authorized retailers, and Breitling.com — the Automatic 42 ($5,100, 250 pieces) and the B01 Chronograph 42 Night Mission ($9,700, 50 pieces).

Why you should be wearing the biggest underwear brand you’ve never heard of
Pair of Thieves is the third biggest underwear brand and they think your balls will love their fabric
Person, Body Part, Finger

I talk a lot about the importance of style. Fit, function, and fashion come together to make your personal appearance a reflection of who you are and who you intend to be. The value of quality over brand names. The importance of good tailoring over fast fashion. Wearing a suit the right way. The best shoes for your look. The way you can send a message without ever opening your mouth. But you know what I don't ever talk about? Skivvies. That's right, I don't talk about underwear. You know why? Because it is something that I (and I reckon you too) just don't think about. But, in ten minutes with David Ehrenberg, CEO of Pair of Thieves, that all changed. I started thinking about underwear. And he convinced me to try his brand, because he was certain that my balls would love it. He was right. But what is it about Pair of Thieves, and underwear in general, that made them skyrocket to the top of an industry most men don't think about?

Our goal isn't to make underwear some aspirational luxury item– it's to make it the best part of getting dressed. That's reflected in our fabric, our fit, and how closely we listen to real customer feedback. We see underwear as part of personal care, and upgrading it should feel easy, accessible, and genuinely worth it. - David Ehrenberg CEO Pair of Thieves

Peserico drops spring and summer looks in their backyard during Fashion Week
Italian staple makes news at Milan Fashion Week with their SS27 collection
Sewing, Body Part, Finger

Milan Fashion Week showed out as usual, with designers from around the world coming together to showcase what they have in store for us purveyors of menswear. Of course, the usual suspects were in attendance with the ability to continue legacies and further movements. The big ones are the ones I have been reporting here for a while now. Browns and more browns seem to remain the industry's call. Canali took it further with a spice theme, which doubled down on the color theme while deepening it. Prada took the simplistic classic aesthetics we've been seeing to what I assume is their logical conclusion. "Doing more with nothing." Continuing a theme we saw at Pitti Uomo last week, Brioni focused on the ideas of personalization and customization, bringing out the personality of your looks. And finally, Dinhill wrote a love letter to the blue blazer, calling into focus their love for the English gentleman. Out of all these campaigns, one that stood out to me was the SS27 launch from Peserico. An Italian classic with decades of quality showing off in its own backyard.

A timeless aesthetic
