Even if you are enduring second summer in New York City, there is an inevitable time barreling towards us when winter is going to smack us in the face. As the cold weather creeps towards us, it is time to start upgrading the coat closet. Of course, there are coat brands all over, but one of the most often seen parading down the New York City Streets and speeding down the slopes is Canada Goose. While they have coats for every occasion, these are the best Canada Goose jackets for men for the 2026/2027 season. And what they are best for.

Best overall Canada Goose: Scout Coat

Let’s start with the best of the best. Why is this the best of the best? Because when you are looking for a coat for this season, versatility is key. You want function (no point in wearing a coat if it doesn’t keep you dry and warm, right?), but you also need style. Do you really want to spend money on something that will only be useful during the occasional snowstorm or trip to the mountain? Get something for the day-to-day that you can also wear when the weather turns. The Scout Coat fills that job.

  • Removable shearling collar
  • Throat latch with exposed snap
  • Placket with hidden snap closures over zipper
  • Rib knit cuffs
  • Four fleece-lined pockets with button closure and side entry
  • One interior zippered security pocket, one drop-in pocket

Best for the transition months: The Lodge Vest

We’re not in the cold months yet. There is still the occasional 70-80-degree day around most of the country. So the idea is to layer properly. If you are looking for a good layering piece to get you through the transitional months, the Lodge Vest sits perfectly in the middle of the seasons. Throw this on over your shirt and tie and carry your suit jacket to the office for the best way to avoid the unpredictable temperatures.

  • Two-way zipper
  • Packs into chest pocket. Converts into a cinchable bag with a carrying strap
  • Hem features an interior drawcord to customize the fit and lock in heat
  • Two exterior zippered hand pockets

Best to stay dry: Vault Jacket

One of the worst parts (unless you are a psycho like me, then you think it is the best part) about the transition months is the rain. It shows up out of nowhere and can make your day a lot more unpredictable than you can prepare for. A good rain jacket is light enough to wear when it isn’t cold, but will keep the rain from penetrating and soaking your look for the day. That is where the Vault Jacket shines in the Canada Goose collection.

  • Fixed hood with adjustable drawcord
  • Internal wire around the hood brim
  • Hood gaiter functions as a built-in layer for extra warmth
  • Double placket with VELCRO® closure
  • Placket with VELCRO® closure over two-way zipper
  • Raglan shoulder with articulated sleeves
  • VELCRO® adjustments at sleeve cuffs
  • Drawcord at waist to customize the fit
  • Zippered side seams
  • Four multi-entry patch pockets with webbing tabs at opening
  • One interior zippered security pocket, two mesh drop-in pockets

Best town coat: Chilliwack Aviator Bomber

Remember why the best of the best was bestowed that honor? It had a lot to do with the versatility. It looked as good as this coat. The Chilliwack Aviator Bomber is the perfect town coat for two reasons. It is classic enough to give the nostalgia of Tom Cruise in Top Gun, but modern enough to make it look like you broke it in yourself instead of borrowing it from a bygone era.

  • Kind High Pile Fleece collar and interior placket
  • Two-way zipper
  • Rib-knit cuffs and back hem
  • Two welt pockets at the chest, two lower pockets with coin-snaps, one zippered sleeve pocket
  • One interior zippered inseam pocket

Best Puffer Jacket: Lawrence Puffer

The classic winter coat that took over my life when I was a kid…the puffer. No matter what your feelings are about the puffer, there is little doubt that this is the best coat for the cold weather when you need to move. Shoveling the walk, running errands, or even stargazing in the cold, this coat will keep up with you better than most everything else in your closet.

  • Structured down-filled collar
  • Two-way centre front zipper for added range of motion and venting
  • Sueded tricot chin guard adds softness and comfort
  • Recessed rib knit cuffs add comfort and lock in heat
  • CORDURA® piping at sleeve hem
  • Hem is longer in the back for added protection
  • Reflective double stripe grab strap on back
  • Interior backpack straps
  • Two exterior pockets with zipper closures
  • Three interior pockets: two mesh drop-in pockets, one zippered security pocket

Best short parka: Seymour Parka

We’re getting into the big boys. If you are an outdoorsman who needs something strong and dependable for your cold months, the Canada Goose Parkas will never let you down. This is the choice for the man who also lives in the city and needs something a little warmer to battle the blizzards you’ll have to brave on the way to work.

  • Adjustable snorkel hood
  • Tricot-lined chin guard
  • Placket with hidden snap closures over zipper
  • Interior backpack straps for hands-free carrying
  • Recessed rib knit cuffs reinforced with CORDURA®
  • Two exterior zippered pockets
  • One interior zippered security pocket, one drop-in pocket

Best long parka: Expedition Parka

Finally, this is the choice for the man looking to hit the slopes, camp in the winter, or otherwise brave the elements in the pursuit of their hobbies or occupations. The long parka is perfect for the functionality needed when the temperature drops. And, while they are not as style-forward as the town coat or the best of the best up top, this is actually one of the ones I see most often on the streets of New York and Toronto.

  • Adjustable down-filled hood
  • Tricot-lined chin guard
  • Webbing grab strap at upper back with Expedition emblem patch
  • Waist features interior drawcord to customize fit and retain warmth
  • Recessed rib-knit cuffs
  • Interior backpack straps for hands-free carrying capabilities
  • Nylon elasticized snow skirt for added protection
  • Placket with Velcro® closures over two-way zipper
  • Storm flap underneath zipper adds a layer of protection
  • Four double-entry pockets with top flap Velcro® closures and zippered side entry
  • Utility pocket on left sleeve, utility pocket on right sleeve with top flap and Velcro® closure
  • One zippered security pocket, two mesh drop-in pockets

Don’t let yourself get comfortable in the warm weather of second summer; the snow is waiting for its turn to ruin your day. Pick up one of Canada Goose’s best jackets for this season.

Mark cut his teeth in the men’s style world when he sold suits first at box stores such as Men’s Wearhouse and Jos. A. Bank. He then spent time as a style consultant, where he helped men find the image they were looking for through tailoring and confidence-building. He thrived when he began diving into the psychology of men’s style, developing the mindset that fashion is what you wear and style is how you wear it. He transitioned into style journalism writing for Real Men, Real Style before finding a home with The Manual, where he broadened his scope to travel, grooming, and mindset (where you can find his work on Gent’s Cafe). He is also working on novels in the thriller genre (bang, bang shoot ’em ups inspired by Vince Flynn, Kyle Mills, Brad Thor, and Jack Carr). He is a huge movie buff, and you can find his work in that space on Looper. And if you ever run into him on the street, you’re likely going to get pulled into conversations about style, movies, or his fanatic romanticism of the game of baseball.   Read Full Bio
The best casual watches for men (to upgrade your everyday style)
Work wear blues watch close up

Watches are more than a tool. They are more than an accessory. They are the kind of tool and accessory that make a statement. They are an expression. They are a statement. A man can look incredible: the right top, the right bottom, great shoes, great hat. The wrong watch can ruin a look, or even the whole essence. Here is the rub: the wrong watch can be subjective. For instance, most people will tell you that a Timex broken watch isn’t the right watch for a pinstripe power suit. However, it was my grandfather’s watch, and I wear it anytime I need him and his guidance. The point? That is never the wrong watch. Once you find a casual watch that works for you, it will be your everyday wear and will never be the wrong watch.

That is what I collected here: The best of the casual watches you can pick up today that will become your everyday wear.

Audemars Piguet launches pre-owned program to rival the titan of the second-hand watch market
Audemars Piguet

Rolex has dominated the watch world for nearly a century. The industry is a deep and complicated web of luxury houses and independent hopefuls. While brands like Patek Phillipe and Cartier vie for their place on the podium, Rolex holds a death grip on the chronophile’s aspirational collection checklist. But Audemars Piguet has decided to challenge them somewhere most other brands are deciding to ignore: the pre-owned market. Now, while something like the Royal Oak is an icon among enthusiasts, AP launching their own certified pre-owned marketplace to chase the reported $1 billion Rolex pie will certainly upset the market.

Like I said, it is a deep and complicated web, so I sat down with a horological expert and founder of WatchGuys, (317K on Instagram), Robertino Altieri, to have him walk me through what this means for watches and their passionate collectors.
