Russell Westbrook and Tumi Team Up for All-Star-Worthy Travel Collection

As the star point guard of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Russell Westbrook knows a thing or two about being on the road. He spends most of his time traveling during basketball season and, along the way, he’s picked up quite a few accolades — Westbrook is an All-NBA Team member, a six-time NBA All-Star, a two-time NBA All-Star MVP, and an Olympic gold medalist. With all that traveling, Westbrook has discovered exactly what suitcase brand he likes — Tumi — and now the customer has teamed up with the label for a limited-edition capsule collection.

“I couldn’t be more excited to collaborate with Tumi, a brand that I have been a loyal user of for years,” says Westbrook in a statement. “I’ve always enjoyed the process of transforming an idea through the design process, and the creative team at Tumi really executed my vision. I’m proud to share the functional and stylistic collection we’ve created together with people all over the world.”

The Tumi x Westbrook collection is made up of nearly 10 pieces: Double Expansion Travel Satchel, International Carry-on, Smith Jetsetter Tote, both the Morrison and Warren Backpacks, and the Hanging Travel Kit. Each piece in the collaboration comes emblazoned with the question, “Why not?” — Westbrook’s personal mantra that reminds him, and everyone who owns a piece of the collection, to be empowered and persevere.

“I’ve very much enjoyed getting to know and work with Russell over the last year — he’s been an incredible supporter of Tumi long before this collaboration ever began, so it’s made the experience in working together that much more enjoyable because he truly understands the product,” says Victor Sanz, Tumi’s creative director. “Russell has been extremely hands-on every step of the way; the respect, professionalism, and kindness that he’s showed towards our entire team has been unparalleled.”
