I tried Maui’s newest oceanfront breakfast—Here’s what happened

Sheraton Maui Unveils New Oceanfront Breakfast Experience

During my brief trip to Maui last week, I stopped by the iconic oceanfront Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa to check out their vibrant new oceanfront breakfast. Just last month, the resort unveiled a resort-wide culinary transformation with new dining concepts and a reimagined bar. One of the most exciting parts of the new transformation of the food & beverage program at this stunning resort is the ‘Upena, a gathering place for breakfast that welcomes guests to start their day with thoughtfully curated breakfast offerings and stunning views. Inspired by the Hawaiian concept of ʻahaʻaina, the idea of a meal as a gathering, ‘Upena is where guests come together at the start of their day.

Buffet highlights include a chef’s omelet station, made-to-order waffle station, hot and cold favorites including fluffy scrambled eggs and frittatas, savory breakfast meats like bacon and sausage, smoked salmon and bagels, fresh island fruit, and housemade pastries with local spreads including guava jelly and lilikoi curd. After all, when you’re visiting Hawaii is the best time to try these local favorites. As a coffee lover, I took it upon myself to try some of the newest signature beverages with my breakfast, including the Kona Coffee Single Origin French Press and the signature Mac Nut Brew, made with locally roasted coffee, macadamia nut, and coconut whipped cream. It was just as delicious as it sounds.

“This transformation is more than refreshed restaurants and bars,” said Kaleo Kenui, general manager of Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa. “Together with Executive Chef Mitchell Cooper, we set out to create a dining portfolio that feels both elevated and authentic – from shared breakfasts and sunset cocktails overlooking the Pacific to memorable dinners that bring people together. Our new concepts honor the resort’s connection to Puʻu Kekaʻa while ushering in an exciting chapter for one of Maui’s most iconic destinations.”

Restaurant design

Also designed by Honolulu-based architecture firm AHL, ‘Upena takes cues from marine life, flowing currents and the deep blue hues of the sea. The design concept Lalo Kai, meaning “undersea,” serves as the foundation for the immersive experience, drawing inspiration from the ocean floor and vibrant coral reefs. Contrasting materials, colors and textures are woven throughout the space, while clean, elegant lines blend with the natural curves and contours of the Hawaiian marine landscape, creating a modern yet timeless ambiance that evokes the wonders hidden beneath the waves.

These 4 Marriott hotels infuse luxury and wellness into Peru’s most iconic stops
peru hotels

What if Peru hotels offered more than a place to rest your head? What if walking through their halls felt like perusing an art gallery, surrendering into a retreat space, or unearthing history in a classroom? For me, when I’m heading to a country as fascinating and dense as Peru, this is the much-needed counterbalance between long days exploring layers of culture, ruins, and cuisine.

Marriott rises to the occasion with a suite of hotels that extend beyond the generic luxury experience. Their luxury properties infuse local culture and restoration right into your room. This, paired with their signature Feel Well Experience Package, makes the hotel a destination rather than a waiting room, cross-pollinating with each location instead of walling it out.

This growing sport is way more exciting than NASCAR: VIP PBR Rattler Days Experience
Rider representing the Austin Gamblers riding a bull at PBR Rattler Days Event 2026

The thing I love about NASCAR is the intensity, and the way the whole team relies on each other to be perfect down to the millisecond. I did not expect bull-riding to make that feel slow. After a visit to Winnebago and the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Rattler Days event in Fort Worth, I have to say, bull riding is more exciting (and even more dangerous) than the high-speed races at NASCAR. I can’t thank Can-Am enough for inviting me out for a spectacular couple of days to experience it all for the very first time.

During my stay in the Fort Worth area, Can-Am connected me with the “World’s Greatest Cowboy” Dale Brisby. It’s partly because of him and his social media presence that bull riding has grown as much as it has, becoming its own sport apart from the rodeo scene. With shows like Yellowstone and Brisby’s Netflix special, How to Be a Cowboy gaining popularity, the call to experience Western culture has exploded. Here’s a first-timer’s impression of it all.
