Dreaming of escaping to a private island in the Maldives? For a cool $100,000, you can now have an entire island to yourself, complete with luxury accommodations and some of the world’s most spectacular coral reefs.

V Villas Maldives at Mirihi – MGallery Collection has introduced an exclusive island buyout experience, allowing guests to reserve the entire resort for a minimum three-night stay. Located in the South Ari Atoll, the tiny island spans less than four acres and is accessible via a 30-minute seaplane ride from Malé.

The experience is designed for everything from destination weddings to corporate retreats, offering groups the rare opportunity to enjoy a secluded Maldivian paradise without sharing it with other travelers.

What does the $100,000 island buyout include?

The buyout includes exclusive access to all 42 villas and suites, accommodating up to 110 guests. Accommodations range from beachfront retreats to overwater villas, including four new options featuring expansive private pools. Each comes with panoramic ocean views and dedicated butler service.

Guests can also take advantage of the resort’s dining venues and recreational facilities. The Marihi Maa Spa offers a place to unwind, while the Ocean Pro Dive Center provides opportunities to explore the island’s vibrant underwater world.

There’s also the Mirihi Thari, a luxury yacht reserved exclusively for resort guests. Those who prefer staying closer to shore can spend their days snorkeling around the island’s house reef or relaxing on its white-sand beaches.

The $100,000 starting rate covers three nights of accommodations and daily breakfast. Taxes, service charges, seaplane transfers, and additional dining are not included.

The private island buyout is available for stays between May 1 and September 30, 2027. Interested travelers can contact the resort’s reservations team at HC4Z3-RE@accor.com for booking information.

But scenery isn’t the reason to come. At most historic sites, you have to imagine what once stood there. Here, entire villages are still tucked under enormous rock alcoves.

Austin is a city that really wants you to leave your hotel. There’s live music spilling out of every other doorway, a brisket line with your name on it, and a whole street of bungalow bars on Rainey begging for your attention. So naturally, on my most recent trip, my friend and I did the opposite. We checked into Thompson Austin, by Hyatt, and treated it less like a home base and more like a destination.

No regrets. Here’s why.

Look, we have nothing against a good pumpkin patch. But if your version of spooky season goes beyond hayrides and a cider donut, the world has some genuinely creepy places you can visit, and a few you can even sleep in. Some come with ghost stories attached, and others come with actual human bones. Either way, a haunted corn maze is going to feel like a petting zoo afterward.

Here are our favorite spooky destinations for travelers who like a little fear with their vacation.
