Top selling beer brand in U.S. issues an NA beverage

A zero proof version of the beloved salt-and-lime brew

Modelo NA Chelada.
Modelo

Modelo is giving the masses what they want. The big beer brand has just released a non-alcohcolic Chelada, just in time for the lion’s share of Dry January. The move is one many before have already made in terms of issuing a non-alcoholic beer or NA equivalent.

It’s part of a growing movement of beer-makers adhering to changing consumer preferences. The NA category continues to surge and is only expected to grow in 2026. Thus far, we’ve already seen winter non-alcoholic beer releases from the likes of Elysian Brewing and Stone Brewing, among others.

What makes this one stand out? Well, it’s the NA cousin of Modelo’s ever-popular Chelada. For those who don’t know, the drink combines beer with salt and lime for a refreshing, Mexican spin on a brew. The beer is available all over the land in six-packs.

Modelo has been busy of late, not only becoming the top-selling beer option in the states but coming up with other releases like a holiday beer. This particular release is nice and refreshing on its own and just as nice worked into a good Michelada recipe. We expect to see these cans show up in coolers all over the place, from campsites to coastlines.

Most know about Modelo. The massive brand, known for its refreshing lagers, recently became the best-selling beer in the U.S. That’s an impressive feat in the land of Budweiser, Coors, and the like. Michelob Ultra has been making waves as of late but Modelo continues to be a major player in the big beer circuit.

I Take Back Everything I Said About Brunch
From Thai breakfast soup to Israeli spreads and Bloody Marys in the West Village, these are the New York City brunches that finally converted a former brunch hater..
Food, Food Presentation, Brunch

In my dissolute youth, I worked as a line cook in a hotel kitchen on Martha's Vineyard. Oh, how I loathed the brunch shift. Churning out a never-ending procession of yogurt parfaits and chocolate-chip pancakes, I wanted to dunk my head in the deep fryer by noon every Sunday. I even pitied the customers, who paid a premium for uninspired fare prepared by hungover, pissed-off cooks. Brunch? Fie upon it! The repast of brain-dead yoga moms.

But how age changes us. Now approaching forty, I'm something of a brunch maximalist. I once fancied myself an urban Viking, subsisting on pre-workout and nicotine by day and steak and whiskey by night. These days, I prefer nothing more than a lazy Sunday morning with my girlfriend in a sunlit dining room. Twin cappuccinos. Smoked salmon eggs Benedict. Tabasco-spiked Bloody Marys. A post-prandial stroll through the West Village. Why the hell did I shun such joys for so many years?
