Orphan Barrel is a brand well-known for releasing long-forgotten, rare expressions. While it’s well-known for its Scotch whiskies and bourbons, recently, the brand announced the launch of a new blended Canadian whisky.
Orphan Barrel presents Night Sage, a 25-Year-Old Blended Canadian Whisky

The 25th limited release from Orphan Barrel, Night Sage, is a limited-edition expression made from a blend of Canadian whiskies distilled in Ontario and Manitoba in Canada. These two whiskies were matured in different barrels: first-dump oak barrels and multi-use oak barrels for a minimum of 25 years each.
According to Orphan Barrel, this results in a nuanced, memorable whisky that opens with notes of butterscotch, vanilla beans, and toasted oak. The palate is a symphony of flavors including notes of brown sugar, golden toffee, walnuts, and figs. The finish is long, lingering, and warm, ending with a mix of dried fruit, toasted vanilla beans, and charred oak. This long-aged whisky is best enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or with a splash or two of water to open up the aromas and flavors.
“Night Sage reflects the guiding principle of the Orphan Barrel project: a fundamental respect for time and the patience to allow whiskies to mature under careful supervision until they are at their peak,” Mark Balkenende, Master Blender Canada at Diageo says.
“After 25 years in seasoned oak, this whisky reveals remarkable depth, layered richness and an elegant finish that rewards slow appreciation.”
