In the pantheon of American rye whiskey, there are very few brands as well-known as Templeton Whiskey. It’s a staple of back bars and home bars from coast to coast. This week, the brand announced the release of its oldest whiskey to date.
Templeton 13-Year-Old Rye Whiskey
The first release from its Hidden Stash collection, Templeton 13-Year-Old Rye Whiskey is a limited-edition express made from sourced rye distilled from the brand’s aged barrel inventory. It’s a non-chilled filtered that begins with a base of 95% rye and 5% malted barley.
According to Templeton Whiskey, the result is a noteworthy, flavorful 108-proof expression that begins with a nose of sweet, spicy peppery rye and candied orange peels. Sipping it reveals notes of chipotle peppers, citrus peels, and wintry spices. The finish is lingering, warm, and ends with honey, caramel, and dark chocolate. It’s best enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or mixed into a whiskey-based cocktail like an Old Fashioned or Manhattan.
