Mold-free coffee is one of those things you may not think about until it affects you on a personal level. For Caleb and Will Sloop, brothers and co-founders of Seek, mold-free coffee became a necessity after their mom struggled with mold-toxicity illness.
After realizing that most coffee is contaminated with mold, toxins, and pesticides, they set out to create a better option to give people coffee that supports health — not harms it. What started as something for their family soon became something much bigger — a brand that offers clean, mold-free, and ethically sourced coffee.
How it started

“My mom’s health journey is the reason Seek exists. She was struggling with mold toxicity, and during that time, we learned just how much the quality of what you consume matters. Coffee was part of her daily routine, but ironically, it was making her worse. That realization hit hard. Most people think of coffee as something that gives you energy and focus, but for her, it was triggering fatigue, brain fog, and inflammation,” says Caleb.
“Once we started digging, the research was shocking. Even high-end coffee brands can have trace levels of mold or mycotoxins from poor storage, humid shipping containers, or improper processing. That moment changed everything for us.”
From there, Caleb & Will set out to partner with small, family-owned farms that shared common values and use hand-picked coffee beans grown at high elevation and tested for mold, yeast, and toxins after roasting. Today, Seek works closely with a roastery that shares the brand’s values: clean processes, fresh inventory, and no shortcuts.
Clean coffee doesn’t mean mold-free

Per Caleb, clean coffee is not the same as mold-free coffee.
“Clean has become a buzzword, but for us, it’s a standard. Seek isn’t just organic, it’s tested. We go beyond certifications to actually prove purity through independent labs. Our beans are roasted at a certain level to maximize the antioxidants and health benefits of the coffee. We also focus on the full experience: smooth taste, low acidity for digestion, and packaging that feels intentional. Everything about Seek is designed to elevate your daily ritual, not just make it safer.”
While Caleb & Will started Seek after their mom’s illness, the feedback they’ve received from other customers dealing with similar sensitivities and health issues has been especially meaningful to them.
“We’ve heard from hundreds of people who dealt with fatigue, headaches, or gut irritation from regular coffee and now say they feel energized and clear again with Seek,” he says. “We started this for her, but it’s become something that helps people all over the country feel better from the inside out. Every bag or can that goes out is a small reminder that something good came from what was once a really difficult chapter in our family.”
Why it matters

Caleb warns all coffee drinkers that what you don’t see still affects you — and can have impacts on your health. “Mold and mycotoxins can trigger inflammation, fatigue, and brain fog, even in small amounts. If you’re drinking coffee every day, quality matters.”
“Most people focus on taste or caffeine content, but the hidden variables like purity and testing have the biggest impact on how you feel long-term. Clean coffee isn’t a luxury, it’s a baseline for better energy and health,” he shares. Seek offers a variety of mold-free coffee products, including canned mold-free iced coffee and bags for home roasting.
