The German herbal liquor gets the perfect summer upgrade

Alcohol is the ultimate gathering tool. No matter what event you have coming up, you can almost always bet on a good drink (unless it is a baby shower; then maybe not). From the moment I joined the United States Army, I became quite familiar with the presence of Jagermeister. It was a constant pillar of our get-togethers for two main reasons. The first was that we didn’t make a lot of money, and it has always been one of the more accessible liquors when we walked down the booze aisles of the Class 6 (picture a 711 on a military post). The second reason is that it is the perfect shot drink. It never needed a mixer. It is designed to be poured as a shot straight from the freezer. However, Jager is also versatile enough to make some great cocktails. Now, the brand dropped the perfect summer upgrade with an orange twist.

The perfect summer upgrade

Summer cocktails have something about them that scream light and airy. More refreshing flavors, a smoothness that ditches the heft of a winter drink. And similar to summer scents, citrus is one of the ingredients that assists in that endeavor. The new Jagermeister Orange includes the oils of three Sicilian oranges, delivering vibrant freshness and a modern taste experience at 33% ABV. Swap the original out with this version for the Jagerita (Combine 2 oz Jagermeister Orange, 1 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.75 oz Cointreau (or triple sec) with simple syrup, shaken and served up with a lime wheel), the Surfer on Acid (Shake equal parts (1 oz each) Jagermeister Orange, white or aged rum, and pineapple juice with a splash of simple syrup or orgeat, served over ice), or the Jagermeister Olf Fashioned (Stir 1 oz Jagermeister Orange, 1 oz rye whiskey, 1 barspoon maple syrup, and a dash of pimento or aromatic bitters over ice)

Bib & Tucker is releasing its first bottled-in-bond bourbon, and the Columbia, Tennessee brand went well past what the designation actually asks for.

Bottled-in-bond is one of the oldest and strictest standards in American whiskey. The Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897 requires that a whiskey be distilled in a single season by a single distiller at a single distillery, aged at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse, and bottled at exactly 100 proof. No wiggle room on any of it.

Old Elk’s new 10-year collection is its first big move under new ownership

Old Elk just dropped three bottles at once, and every one of them is a full decade old. That’s a pretty big statement of purpose from the Fort Collins, Colorado brand, now owned by Middle West Spirits.

The Ohio-based parent company has become a serious supplier in the last few years, and they’re putting that muscle behind Old Elk with the 10-Year-Old Collection. The new drop consists of a Straight Bourbon, a Wheated Bourbon, and a Straight Wheat Whiskey, all aged ten years before bottling.
