Timeless Orkney-based distillery Highland Park is well-known for its award-winning, complex single malt Scotch whiskies. Recently, the iconic brand announced the launch of an expression made in partnership with Michelin-starred chef Björn Frantzén.
Between You and I
It’s called ‘Between You and I’ and it’s a sixteen-year-old single malt whiskey that was matured in a combination of virgin Swedish oak (a first for Highland Park), sherry-seasoned European and American oak, and ex-bourbon barrels.
According to Frantzén, the result is a sublime whisky filled with flavors like candied orange peels, marzipan, almonds, heather, and rich peat smoke.
“This whisky is like a conversation between memories, flavors, and places,” says Frantzén
“ It brought me back to moments with my grandmother in the kitchen, to tropical beaches, and to the quiet sound of a fire fading in a snowy forest. That’s how layered the experience was.”
Paul Condron, Brand Director at Highland Park adds that ‘Between You and I’ is all about inviting drinkers to share their own personal tasting notes while explaining what feelings and memories the spirit brings out in them.
“This is a new way of tasting whisky, more personal and emotional than ever. No two people will taste the same thing. Thanks to the use of virgin Swedish Oak, it’s an exciting new expression of flavor for us, but I’m just as excited about the discussions it might start— because when we share our personal tasting notes, we get to know each other a little bit better. ”
