If you’re a fan of Elijah Craig Bourbon, you probably have a bottle or two of its popular Barrel Proof Bourbon on your home bar. But up until now, you couldn’t enjoy its Kentucky straight rye whiskey at the same high proof. That changed this month with the release of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey.
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Rye

Matured for twelve years and three months, this memorable rye whiskey carries a potent proof of 108. According to Elijah Craig, it begins with a nose of baking spices, gingerbread, and molasses cookies. The palate is a mix of stewed fruits and cinnamon. The finish is long, warm, and ends with flavors like nutmeg and rye spice.
While this is the initial release, new batches will be released three times per year in January, May, and September. The launch schedule follows the brand’s unique batching system using letters “A,” “B,” or “C” to indicate the order of the release. The first number is used to represent the month and the last two are used for the year. Thus, the first release is referred to as A925.
“Our signature Elijah Craig spice and complexity shine through beautifully in our inaugural Barrel Proof Rye, in an approachable way that makes it ideal for barrel proof first-timers and experienced palates alike,” said Conor O’Driscoll, Master Distiller, Elijah Craig Bourbon. “As whiskey fans know, barrel proof is kind of like that famous box of chocolates, in not knowing what you’re going to get until the barrel dumps. In this instance, we got a 108 proof treat that drinks bolder than its number would suggest.”
Where can I buy it?

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Rye is available now at retailers throughout the US for the suggested retail price of $74.99 for a 750ml bottle.
