Dos Maderas, the well-known rum brand under Bodegas Williams & Humbert, just announced the first release in its Dos Maderas Origen Series. This new series was created to show the diversity of rum throughout the world, and it all begins with an expression from a country not often associated with rum.

The first release in the new Dos Maderas Origen Series is a 12-year-old Thai rum finished in rare 80-year-old Oloroso sherry casks called Dos Maderas Origen Thailand. Only 4,000 bottles of this limited-release will be made available to the public.

This expression was distilled from locally sourced sugarcane in Thailand, then matured for 12 years in ex-bourbon barrels. It’s then shipped to Jerez, Spain, where it is finished for another six months in 80-year-old Oloroso sherry casks.

According to the brand, the result is a complex aged rum that starts with aromas of caramel, coffee, toasted almonds, vanilla, dark chocolate, coconut, and citrus peels. The palate is smooth and memorable with notes of toasted wood, caramelized sugar, chocolate, and toasted coconut.

“The release of Origen Thailand introduces a new chapter for Dos Maderas, offering a way to explore the global rum-making while preserving the artistry of sherry finishing that the brand is known for,” Gonzalo Medina, International Marketing Manager at Bodegas Williams & Humbert, says.

“We chose Thailand as the starting point for the Origen Series for its vibrant culture, rich culinary heritage, and a growing spirits scene, perfect to shine a light on the world’s rum-producing regions.”

Where can I buy it?

Dos Maderas Origen Thailand is currently available at shop.dosmaderas.com, online stores, and select retailers for the suggested price of $82.99 for a 700ml bottle.
