A Rosemary Maple Sour cocktail recipe ideal for Friendsgiving

A whiskey sour all dressed up for autumn

Maker's Mark holiday bottle.

Thanksgiving is next week. Or, Friendsgiving, depending on whom you’re hanging with. Either way, we’ve got a great late fall cocktail recipe you can enjoy with family, neighbors, and pals.

Now, while rum and tequila can fit into end-of-the-year celebrations just fine, we can’t help but turn to a good Kentucky straight bourbon right now. It’s like the spirit equivalent of a cashmere scarf. And the temps are dropping, folks.

But just because you’re working with a popular spirit choice doesn’t mean you have to have a boring cocktail. In fact, with just a few little tweaks, you can have something a little more exciting and seasonal that’s based on a classic whiskey cocktail.

Need proof? Well, we’ve got that. Read on for a festive recipe from Maker’s Mark.

Rosemary Maple Sour

A riff on the classic whiskey sour, this one is set up to be a bit more autumnal. If you prefer less sweet, dial down the maple syrup addition a bit. Oh, and the rosemary does way more than just offer a cool-looking garnish, especially if you add it on the early side so it can infuse the drink a bit with those classic piney notes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 parts Marker’s Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon
  • 3/4 parts lemon juice
  • 1/2 part maple syrup
  • Rosemary and lemon slice for garnish

Method:

  1. Smack 1 sprig of rosemary between the palm of your hands and place in shaker.
  2. Add ingredients to shaker and shake with ice.
  3. Strain into ice-filled glass and garnish.

Tequila Corralejo Introduces Smaller Bottle For the First Time in More Than 250 Years
Alcohol, Beer, Beverage

If you’ve walked into a Mexican bar or restaurant, chances are you’ve noticed the big blue bottle of tequila. Corralejo is famous for its tall, slim bottles that come in 750 milliliters and 1.75 liters. The 750-milliliter bottle is the standard size you’ve probably become familiar with. Corralejo also has clear bottles for its Blanco, red bottles for its Añejo, and a tall, round, bright blue bottle for its Triple Distilled Tequilas, among other shapes and types.

It’s been this way for decades and decades. But for the first time, Corralejo is meeting the demand for smaller, easily digestible, and giftable bottles. Arriving ahead of Hispanic Heritage Month and Mexican Independence Day in September, Corralejo is introducing the 375ml Reposado bottle, which aims to create “a timely entry point into Tequila Corralejo’s more than 250 years of tequila-making heritage, while offering a right-sized option for intimate gatherings, gifting, and cocktail occasions.”
