Serving as the official timekeeper for Formula 1 from 1992 to 2003, and again from 2025 to present, Tag Heuer’s presence in the motorsport has been a crucial part of both brands’ history. What first began in 1971, when Heuer became the first watch brand to sponsor a Formula 1 team, has quickly turned into a collaboration that’s undeniable. And while Formula 1 has had a variety of watch brands sponsor different times throughout the years, Tag Heuer’s legacy in the sport remains prevalent.
To mark the beginning of a brand new season, TAG Heuer has unveiled a brand new smart watch that integrates the world of Formula 1 in a way that obsessed fans will enjoy. Beyond the typical high-quality one can expect from TAG Heuer, the new watch goes beyond just the normal decals and engraved touches. This new release is made for Formula 1 fans who are looking to live and breathe sport in their everyday lives.
Behind the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5 45mm x Formula 1 design

To celebrate the beginning of the 2026 Formula 1 season, which commences in Melbourne, Australia, on March 7, TAG Heuer has introduced the Connected Calibre E5 45mm x Formula 1 watch, the next step for avid fans. Made with a 45mm Grade 2 titanium case with black DLC coating, brushed, and sandblasted finish, the quality in the design is evident. The case houses a black polished ceramic bezel with Grand Prix phase engravings. Also part of the design is a flat sapphire crystal that’s water resistant to 50 meters. Two straps are included with the watch: a bi-material black leather/carbon pattern with red stitching and a flexible stretch texture strap for sports/sleep tracking.
With all of these design aspects that come with a TAG Heuer watch, this release is already up to par with the standard quality that comes with the brand. However, for this specific release, the brand has opted for a series of Formula 1-specific features that any fan would absolutely love to have.
Formula 1 features and technical specs

New to the watch is a hero “Race Track” watch face that adapts to each of 24 Grand Prix weekends, showing you the country flag, race name, and circuit silhouette, so you never miss a race. A moving dot travels the track outline to mark passing seconds. Smart widgets are included for instant updates without opening the app, so you always stay up to date with your favorite teams and drivers. Notifications are delivered like pit radio communications with animated bexel markings for each race session. As if these Formula 1 features weren’t enough, the watch also comes with an exclusive Formula 1 app with the season calendar, race schedules, results, and driver/team standings.
As much as the Formula 1 features will entice any fan of the sport, it’s the technical features that are the underdog winners. This new release comes with various sensors that can measure heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep, breathing rate, barometer, gyroscope, and more. Battery life lasts 2 days on full performance and 3 days on low power. A fast charger, the watch gives a full day of life in just 30 minutes.
Rounding out the presentation is the sublime packaging that sees the watch coming in a matte black soft-touch box with glossy checkered flag patterns, which opens in a multi-stage reveal.
While on the exterior, it may seem like your typical TAG Heuer smart watch, it’s far beyond that. It’s a watch crafted with the Formula 1 fan in mind. Whether or not you’re a dedicated fan of the sport, the integration of Formula 1 into the watch is thoughtful and unique. Available in March 2026, TAG Heuer clients will have the privilege to have the first opportunity to purchase the watch starting March 3rd.
