One Seven Eight
Black Diamond: BDTV S1 - Episode 1: One Seven Eight - Backcountry Skiing
Earlier this year, Henrik Westling became the first person to climb and ski all one-hundred-seventy-eight peaks in the Jämtland region of Sweden. Over his six year odyssey, he discovered that undertaking such an endeavor is not just about the skiing, but finding a balance in life - every step we take brings us closer to the summit, but also to finding happiness with ourselves, our family and our work. Black Diamond's tribute to his accomplishment is the first installment in their new BD TV line up that will explore unseen elements in the ski and climbing industry. We can't wait for new episodes to drop soon.
The Making of the "Dirt Blizzard"
The Making of the Dirt Blizzard Segment - Mind the Gap Episode 9
Teton Gravity Research's unReal pushed the boundaries of action sports film making, and was our original inspiration for the "Road to Adventure" series. Now you can go behind the scenes with their team to see the making of the infamous Dirt Blizzard segment. Unfortunately, they didn't figure out how to make perfectly formed, hero dirt fall from the sky, but the process the team went through to make each shot happen will give you a new found respect for the work that goes into all of your favorite short action films.
Fjallraven Fall Trouser Line
Fall15_OutdoorPant_HQ
What's with denim anyway? If you haven't noticed, we're big fans of Fjallraven's fall line this year. Their G-1000 fabric trousers have survived thousands of feet of vertical rock, long days of travel, and dozens of miles of backpacking since we snagged a pair of the Outdoor Retailer Show in August. They've teamed up with famed photographer Chris Burkard to profile the whole line this year, and we're excited to see what is in store.
Lenny's Garage
Lenny's Garage
Lenny Shiller has a collection of fifty-eight vintage cars under one roof. In Brooklyn. When we stumbled on this film by Peter Crosby, we couldn't believe how extensive his collection is, or how he had managed to find that kind of space in New York City. Lenny's passionate caretaking is evident in every corner of his garage from the lovingly rebuilt engines to the stockpiles of spare parts. He considers himself simply a custodian for each of his vehicles, hoping that one day they will be passed on to someone else with as much a sense of awe for classic craftsmanships he does. If only there were more men like Lenny.
