Unwind Like an Olympian at Shaun White’s For-Sale Malibu Retreat

Compass

Nobody is more synonymous with winter sports than Shaun White. The three-time Olympic gold medalist set the bar for extreme snowboarding and continues to break his own records each year. What many may not realize, though, is that White isn’t snowbound year-round. When not hitting the slopes, he unwinds at a beach-side retreat in beautiful Malibu, California. But it seems White is looking for a change and has now listed his second Malibu home for sale. Take a look at Point Dume, a cool coastal house fit for an Olympian.

Sitting atop a bluff overlooking the Pacific, Point Dume is a cozy 2,164-square-foot home sitting on one acre of beautifully manicured land. Built in 1948, the residence boasts many original classic California coastal elements that were popular at the time. From gorgeous hardwood flooring to mullioned clerestory windows to the tongue-and-groove white painted wood ceilings, everything about Point Dume speaks to the original design of this historic home.

Windows and several sets of double French doors open up to the sprawling lawn and ocean beyond. One the first floor, the doors lead out to a slate-tiled patio and large swimming pool with built-in hot tub. On the second floor, another set of French doors opens up to the deck — spacious enough for a dining set and lounge chairs.

Laid out in reverse, with the main living spaces on the top floor and the guest bedrooms on the bottom, the home was designed with views in mind. With the family room, kitchen, and dining area all on the top floor, the ocean can be seen, unobstructed, from any seat in the house. The home has been carefully maintained to retain its original charm, with a few modern updates. This means there is no central air conditioning, but the design of the home took this into consideration. Deep soffits on the exterior roof shade the large windows during the hottest parts of the day, keeping the heat out. But the chance that it might be a bit warm in the summer is a small price to pay to have access to the stunning beaches of Malibu and the ocean views.

While Point Dume may be a bit smaller than some of the other homes in the area, it’s no less luxurious. The giant lawn is perfect for hosting summer soirees, there is plenty of space for guests, the kitchen has been updated with gourmet appliances, and the master bathroom features spa-like amenities like a generous soaking tub and glass-enclosed shower. If all of this is good enough for Shaun White, it’s should be good enough for us average Joes.

Point Dume is currently on the market for $10,995,000 and is listed with Aaron Kirman of Aaron Kirman Group at Compass and Chris Cortazzo at Compass.

Predator: Badlands is giving Predator fans the movie they’ve always wanted
The movie is set to hit theaters in November, years after the debut of Prey.
Elle Fanning in Predator Badlands

After the success of Prey, there's some new energy in the Predator franchise. What's even better for Predator fans, though, is that the next installment seems designed to give them something they've always wanted. Namely, a movie that follows a predator's POV.

In the first trailer for Predator: Badlands, a predator named Dek is exiled from his clan, only to meet a humanoid-looking life-form played by Elle Fanning. The two of them team up to take on something that "can't be killed," and a long the way, we get some pretty incredible looks at the homeworld of the predators.

The 9 best golf documentaries to watch this year
Here's a glimpse into the amazing history of golf, including how the sport has evolved
Tiger (HBO)

Depending on how you look at it, golf is either one of the simplest sports or one of the most complex. The objective is very easy to wrap your head around: This ball has got to wind up in a hole that's maybe a quarter mile away. Everything that happens after that, though, is where things get interesting. Of course, people who love golf love it for a wide array of reasons. Some people love the beautiful courses, while others love the stories behind their favorite players.
There are plenty of people who love golf but don't play it much themselves, and those are the people who this list is really for. Golf's full of amazing stories, and we've even gotten our fair share of great golf movies as a result. Sometimes, though, a documentary is an even better fit for a particular story set in the world of golf. As someone who doesn't play much golf but loves to watch it, these documentaries are right up my alley. They're the kinds of movies that can inspire and perplex you, and also remind you that at its best, golf is filled with legendary moments. These movies might not be on the shortlist for any awards, but that's only because sports documentaries are so recognized for how well they put stories together.
After careful consideration, we've brought you this list of the best golf documentaries you can stream now.
