The World’s 4 Most Romantic Hotels to Crash This Valentine’s Day

Few romantic gestures are as swoon-worthy as whisking your significant other off to somewhere new (and maybe even exotic). Hotels around the world debut some of their best and cheapest couples-centric Valentine’s Day packages every February. If you’ve been looking to escape with that special someone, there’s no better time than now. Here are four great places around the world to do it.

Greyfield Inn (Georgia)

For the average American, coastal Georgia hardly sounds like a bucket-list-worthy destination. But Greyfield Inn is proving that it can be. Situated on 18 miles of beautifully isolated beach on Cumberland Island, the charming boutique hotel feels oceans away from anywhere. While anytime is a good time to plan a romantic stay here, this Valentine’s Day is especially attractive thanks to a number of packages designed to celebrate the holiday. Valentine’s couples will enjoy three daily meals (including a Valentine’s-themed dinner) prepared by chef Whitney Otawka, plus cocktails, expert wine-pairings, and a complimentary bottle of Champagne. If you can peel yourself away from the beautiful hotel grounds for a bit, you’ll also have unlimited use of kayaks and bicycles, plus naturalist-led walking tours all over the island.

It seems only the best, most luxurious hotels are bold enough to put a comma in their name. But, we digress … New York’s The Beekman, a Thompson Hotel is undeniably eclectic, historical, whimsical, and — most importantly for this list — romantic. Every lamp, wood-paneled wall, and luxuriously upholstered seat oozes sophistication, but with a distinct lack of pretense. This Valentine’s Day, the hotel is featuring a Celebrate With Us Package throughout the entire month of February. It includes a room upgrade (pending availability), plus chocolate and red wine on arrival. The following day, guests can enjoy breakfast for two in Tom Colicchio’s swanky Temple Court, and a 2 p.m. late checkout.

Fairmont Le Château Frontenac (Quebec City)

Dining at Champlain Restaurant at Fairmont Le Château Frontenac

No place in North America oozes European charm like Quebec City. The cobblestone streets, the French-style architecture, and the way the city comes alive each winter (especially for the annual Winter Carnival) all provide the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable Valentine’s Day getaway. Fairmont Chateau Frontenac is often called “the most photographed hotel in the world,” so it’s an ideal hotel for a romantic escape. For 2018, the hotel’s aptly named Romance Package includes an overnight stay, breakfast in bed (or at Place Dufferin, but why leave your room if you don’t have to?), chocolate-dipped strawberries, and a half-bottle of Champagne served in specially engraved flute glasses.

The Milestone Hotel (London)

The Milestone Hotel has long been ranked among the best hotels in London. The decor is a pitch-perfect blend of old world English charm and beautiful furnishings fit for royalty. The onsite Cheneston’s Restaurant offers fine British dining, while the hotel’s Park Lounge serves an award-winning afternoon tea service each day. Given that Valentine’s Day is a favorite month for proposals, the hotel is pulling out all the stops for guests with its Royal Engagement Package. In addition to two nights’ accommodations, the special includes a horse-drawn carriage ride around London, a Bentley-chauffeured car to a Hatton Garden jewelry store, and a photography session near Kensington Palace (home to past and present royals, including Queen Victoria).

Inside The Lodge at Bodega Bay: What it’s like to stay at the #1 hotel in the world
The Lodge at Bodega Bay deserves the title of #1 hotel in the world
Sarah Joseph at The Lodge at Bodega Bay

I recently had the chance to stay at The Lodge at Bodega Bay, which was voted the #1 hotel in the world by the 2024 Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards. With modern, top-tier amenities and surreal views of the ocean, it's easily among one of the top five hotels I've ever visited, right up alongside the Gaylord Palms hotel in Florida and the Mountain View Grand in New Hampshire. Here's everything that made The Lodge special, and why you should consider visiting the next time you're feeling stressed.
What makes The Lodge special?

To me, nothing is more relaxing than a seaside escape, where you can just sit for hours and watch the sea and sky. There are many alcoves on campus where you can hide away and take in the view, but most rooms also have private patios. My husband, Gladston, and I particularly loved the outdoor fire pits, where we toasted our hands in the chill spring air.

The best U.S. beaches you’ve never heard of — until now
America’s best-kept beach secrets, according to locals
Pa'ako Cove, Hawaii

Want to enjoy a beach day without the crowds, parking hassles, or the battle for the perfect spot on the sand? A recent survey by Frugal Flyer asked 3,002 locals to reveal the best hidden beaches across the country.

Unsurprisingly, Hawaii dominates the list. Topping the charts is Awahua Beach, tucked away at the base of Moloka‘i’s Kalaupapa Peninsula. This small black-sand beach, framed by cliffs nearly 2,000 feet high, is part of a National Historical Park that once served as a leprosy settlement. Accessible only by mule, a tough hike, or a small plane, Awahua’s remote location makes it one of Hawaii’s most quiet escapes.

The color scheme and convenience may be worth the odd scuff
Carl Friedrik Core Luggage Set

As anyone who has dragged a battered old bag with a wonky wheel across cobbles knows, the right luggage choice can make or break a trip. Especially if that trip involves difficult terrain, rushing to make connections, or plenty of outfit options. Carl Friedrik’s Core Set is a good entry point into the London-based brand’s luggage options.

The set comes in three standard colors: a Sand/Chocolate version (which is the one tested below), Navy blue, and black. At the time of writing, a limited-edition Atlassian Williams Racing option is available for the F1 fans amongst you who like a plucky underdog with a blue and white color scheme.
