Sunriver, Oregon
Just outside Bend, Sunriver, Oregon, is one of the best places to visit in summer if you’re looking for a laid-back mix of outdoor adventure and resort-style relaxation. Luxury lodges, stylish city stays, and epic rail journeys connect the country’s most stunning regions. “Summer is the perfect time to visit the Andean region,” says Chris Brunning, Co-founder and MD at Untold Story Travel. “Embark on a Peruvian safari of sorts, including the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Lake Titicaca, Colca Canyon, and now the untouched hamlet of Tinajani.”
Cape Town & The Whale Coast, South Africa
If Africa is calling your name, South Africa should be at the top of your list. Visiting in the Southern Hemisphere’s winter means fewer crowds, cooler temps in the 60s and 70s, and ideal weather for outdoor adventures. After exploring Cape Town, head to the Cape Whale Coast, where charming seaside towns and incredible wildlife await. “While Cape Town is a world-renowned city that is much beloved over its summer time (December through February), lesser known is that the annual migration of southern right whales peaks in July/August,” says Justin Chapman of Go2Africa. And while you’re there, don’t forget to sample the bold flavors of South African cuisine.
Albania
Albania is quickly climbing the ranks as one of the best places to visit in summer, and for good reason. Cornwall, England
Cornwall is the ultimate British beach escape, with golden sands, turquoise waves, and dramatic cliffs that could easily be mistaken for the Caribbean. “Cornwall is magical! It’s a haven for nature lovers and those that want to experience an active adventure,” says Gaby Cecil of Active England Tours. “With pirate legends, an eclectic music festival scene, and countryside that has inspired authors and filmmakers for generations, it remains a favorite for seaside vacations.” A few fun things to do in the area include cycling the scenic Camel Trail or hiking the iconic South West Coast Path.
Rangeley, Maine
You can’t talk about the best places to visit in summer without giving New England some love, and Rangeley, Maine, is the perfect pick. Interlaken, Switzerland
Many people picture Switzerland as a winter wonderland, but summer is just as magical, especially in Interlaken. Sardinia
Ready to live your best Mediterranean life? Sardinia, a stunning Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea, is the perfect summer escape.
