Forget Europe: ‘Asian Autumn’ is taking over fall travel trends

Where to travel this fall beyond European destinations

European summer is a classic travel trend that seems to reemerge every year — but as we wind down summer and head into the early days of fall, new travel data suggests global travelers are seeking new destinations this autumn. Coined ‘Asian Autumn ‘ by Booking.com research, data suggests that Asia is now emerging as a top destination for those looking to go beyond Europe this fall. Recent data found that 41% of U.S. travelers are planning to take as many, if not more, week-long+ international trips in 2026 as they did in 2025, and Asian destinations are becoming a popular pick.

Currently, four of the top ten trending destinations among U.S. travelers are in Asia, including Hanoi, Vietnam, which is in the No. 1 spot and has seen searches jump nearly 76% year over year.

Shanghai, China: +60% YoY
Seoul, South Korea: +54.2% YoY
Bangkok, Thailand: +23.3% YoY

Beyond Asia, other global destinations are showing rising interest among U.S. travelers seeking a fall getaway beyond classic European destinations. Searches and interest are up for the following global destinations:

Marrakech, Morocco: +68.8% YoY
Copenhagen, Denmark: +48% YoY
Vancouver, Canada: +39.2% YoY
Mexico City, Mexico: +35% YoY
Niagara Falls, Canada: +33.8% YoY
Montreal, Canada: +29.8% YoY

U.S. fall travel destinations

Among the top trending U.S. destinations for fall, Fort Myers, Florida (+215.2%) and Port St. Lucie, Florida (+194.6%) saw the largest year-over-year growth in searches by U.S. travelers. U.S. fall travel destinations are also impacted by fall sports, with Foxborough, Massachusetts (+178.1%) and East Rutherford, New Jersey (+166.1%) – home to Gillette Stadium and MetLife Stadium, respectively – ranking among the top five trending domestic destinations.

Omni Hotels & Resorts is heading to Mexico for the first time. The hotel brand has officially opened reservations for Omni Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita, a new luxury beachfront property scheduled to welcome guests beginning March 2, 2027.

Located along Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit, Omni Pontoque will span 50 oceanfront acres between the region’s mountains and Pacific coastline.
