Win an Airbnb Vacation to Explore the Bahamas in a Deep-Sea Submersible

It seems everything related to Planet Earth, Airbnb, and BBC Worldwide turns to gold. So, when the three iconic brands collaborate on a single endeavor, it’s no surprise that it’s going to be amazing. If you’ve ever wanted to vacation like James Cameron — think exploring the Bahamas in a deep-sea submersible — your dreams could soon be a reality.

Winners in the Airbnb Night At Blue Planet II will win a three-day, two-night stay aboard a world-class exploration vessel, OceanX’s Alucia. The journey is designed to give the everyman a taste of what life is like on a working ocean expedition.

Most of the time will be spent topside, chatting with Blue Planet II’s producer, Orla Doherty, but the big get is the chance to travel like a deep sea researcher more than 1,000 meters beneath the waves off the coast of the Bahamas. Winners will venture below the surface — searching for unique marine life typically only seen in a David Attenborough special — first-hand in a state-of-the-art submersible.

The contest is part of Airbnb’s wildly popular Night At series, which routinely gives away stays at some of the world’s most amazing and unique “hotel rooms.” We’ve previously covered the Night At Denmark’s LEGO House, a Night At the Guinness Storehouse, and Airbnb’s collaboration with Audi for a test drive in Death Valley.

It’s all, of course, a rather clever PR campaign to promote the premiere of BBC Worldwide’s  Planet Earth: Blue Planet II. The new series is a return to form for the legendary broadcast company who debuted the critically acclaimed, award-winning Planet Earth in 2006. The first show in the new series aired in the U.S. on January 20; subsequent shows can be found on BBC America Saturday nights at 9/8c.

The Blue Planet II contest is live now on Airbnb. Entrants need only share their ideas for the ideal deep sea adventure in 550 characters or less by Saturday, February 10 at 7 a.m. EST. Three entries will be chosen, and the expedition will take place April 4-8, 2018. Two nights aboard the Alucia, two nights at an Airbnb before and after the excursion, air and ground transportation, and all meals will be covered. Just pack the Dramamine and remember that skinny dipping is strictly forbidden (really, that’s part of the rules).

Looking to get away this Fourth of July? According to a new travel trends report from Going, the flight deal app, Chicago is the top trending destination for Independence Day weekend, and it’s easy to see why.

The Windy City puts on one of the country’s most spectacular fireworks displays, lighting up the sky over Navy Pier in downtown Chicago. But that’s just the beginning. Top 5 golfing experiences in Las Vegas and how to make the most if it
Golf in Las Vegas

Like the Scottsdale area, Las Vegas is famous for world-class golfing experiences. That said, there's no doubt in my mind that Las Vegas has the better off-course scene. With its many resorts and casinos, Las Vegas has a lot more for everyone to enjoy, even those of your party who aren't as enthusiastic about golf. While there are only about 50 courses as opposed to the 200 or so in Scottsdale, Golf in Las Vegas promises a vibrant and exciting atmosphere, full of its own luxurious flavor. Here are the top 5 courses in Las Vegas.

Shadow Creek Golf Course
Shadow Creek is a bucket-list course for many golfers. While it is in North Las Vegas, about a 25 minute drive from the Strip, Golf Digest ranks it among the best in the United States due to its exclusive experience and meticulously maintained greens. Signature holes include the par-3 17th with its water features and the par-5 18th, which has a creek guarding the approach.
