Sitar brings modern Indian Cuisine to Hard Rock Atlantic City — and I had to try it

First look: Sitar brings elevated Indian flavors to Hard Rock Atlantic City

Architecture, Building, Dining Room
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City

Ever since Sitar debuted at Hard Rock Atlantic City last month, it’s been one of my most anticipated restaurant openings. As the first fine dining Indian restaurant to open at a major casino on the East Coast, Sitar brings an exciting new dining option to Hard Rock Atlantic City.

The menu and concept showcase India’s rich culture and culinary traditions, immersing guests in a sophisticated experience that celebrates vibrant flavors and traditions. Since I became obsessed with Indian food a few years ago, I’m excited to see more non-Indian people falling in love with the culture, heritage, and flavors of Indian cuisine. From go-to classics like Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala to unique offerings like mutton ghee roast, here’s a look at my first experience dining at Sitar inside Hard Rock Atlantic City.

The inspiration behind Sitar

“Sitar’s debut was a key part of our $50 million capital improvement plan for 2026,” says George Goldhoff, President of Hard Rock Atlantic City. “We’re always looking for new ways to elevate the guest experience at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, and we were thrilled to expand our culinary offerings with the vibrant flavors and traditions of India.

“At Hard Rock Atlantic City, we live by our motto, “Love All, Serve All,” and celebrating people of all backgrounds and cultures is an important part of who we are. We’re proud to create experiences that honor and celebrate Indian culture, from Sitar’s cuisine to several Indian and Bollywood concerts throughout the year. We look forward to welcoming guests from near and far to experience the music, food, and culture of India at Hard Rock Atlantic City.”

Restaurant concept & menu

The restaurant’s concept, which strives to showcase food and ingredients from different regions of India in a modern, sophisticated way, features an exceptional menu. From the Guntur Chicken 65 (a personal favorite of mine and a South Indian classic) to the Truck Stop Chicken, which pays tribute to India’s truck stops, I found the menu quite extensive and creative. Having only dined here once, I have plenty of opportunities to try new things the next time I visit. The biggest problem (which is not a real problem, if you ask me) with Indian food is that it’s so filling you can only try a few menu items before you’re full. At the same time, that means there are always new flavors waiting to be explored (and a reason to go back during my next visit to Atlantic City).

The Sitar menu also includes fun, Indian-inspired cocktails and mocktails, along with an extensive wine list. During my visit, I tried a classic mango lassi (which is never a bad idea) along with a fun mango-inspired cocktail. Beyond the menu and the restaurant’s unique atmosphere, which overlooks the boardwalk, guests at Sitar can also see ties to Hard Rock’s signature musical flair. “Sitar’s décor and art pay tribute to some of India’s most iconic musicians, including Pandit Ravi Shankar, a famous Sitar player known for playing with George Harrison and the Beatles,” says Dr. Mukesh Roy, President of Sitar.

Inside, I noticed several “photo op” walls and Mughal arch alcoves that give the restaurant a unique, cozy feel. From onyx marble details to pearl-string chandeliers, the cozy atmosphere matches the food’s warmth and flavor. I also noticed the uniquely colorful dishes, adding an element of color to every table.

Roy also notes that diners at Sitar can expect a great blend of traditional Indian dishes alongside creative offerings that are less typical of Indian cuisine. “Sitar is one of the few Indian restaurants to offer an extensive selection of seafood, including our Pastooni Lobster Masala, which takes a traditional Indian masala and elevates it with an indulgent lobster tail cooked in a rich, creamy coconut and tomato reduction,” he shares.

“Additionally, our culinary team is happy to tailor spice levels and customize ingredients to suit guests’ preferences, as every dish is made fresh to order.” For those who may be trying Indian food for the first time, the ability to order all dishes as “mild” opens up a world of possibilities.

Looking ahead for Sitar

Since Sitar just debuted at Hard Rock Atlantic City, the restaurant is still in its early stages. With boardwalk visibility, many Atlantic City restaurants are starting to notice the new dining spot. Looking ahead, Roy shares that the restaurant will debut themed nights, as well as wine, whisky, and Scotch pairing dinners, to take the dining experience to the next level.

“We’re also looking forward to bringing live Bollywood music to the Sitar Bar, located just outside Hard Rock Atlantic City’s Sound Waves Theatre. These experiences will introduce even more guests to the vibrant flavors, music and culture of India,” he shares.

Forget the cliché: Charcuterie is the ultimate Fall hosting move
Fall Charcuterie

Instead of sticking to predictable charcuterie board spreads, fall is one of the best times to change things up when making a charcuterie board. Since there’s really not one “correct way” to build a charcuterie board, fall party hosts can experiment with fun game-day boards and cozy gathering feasts using a collection of autumn flavors, from apples to nuts to warm spices, richer cheeses, and fall fruit spreads and jams. While charcuterie boards might have once been associated with girls’ nights and wine pairings, a solid charcuterie board is ultimately just a masterclass in cured meats, sharp cheeses, and bold flavors that any guy can appreciate.

We chatted with Gardar Stefansson, CEO & Co-Founder of GOOD GOOD no-sugar-added jams, to get the scoop on how to craft the perfect Fall charcuterie board. From thinking outside the box with flavor pairings to building a balanced seasonal board, here’s what he shared on creating a high-end spread of cured meats, sharp cheeses, and hearty snacks that speaks to any guy’s appetite.
