Frankfort, Kentucky-based Redemption Whiskey is releasing its first bottled-in-bond bourbon this fall, and the brand decided to make its debut in the category something extra.
The new Single Barrel Bonded Bourbon comes from a single aging barrel rather than a blend, while still meeting the federal bottled-in-bond standard. That standard is pretty strict: it requires a whiskey to be distilled in one season by one distiller at one distillery, aged at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse, and bottled at exactly 100 proof.
Redemption’s version goes further, aging at least two years past the legal minimum. Given that it’s already a pain to hit bottled-in-bond status, going the extra mile is definitely a flex.
Two brands, same playbook
Redemption isn’t a distillery — it’s an NDP, meaning the whiskey is distilled elsewhere, and Redemption handles the barrel selection, blending, and bottling. Back in the day, that designation used to be the kind of thing brands would try to keep under wraps.
Nowadays, as consumers have become more and more savvy about the whiskey business, it’s just another data point, and Redemption’s willingness to spell out exactly where the liquid comes from is part of why it’s held onto a decent reputation while plenty of sourced brands haven’t.
Redemption also sits in Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits’ portfolio right alongside Bib & Tucker, which put out its own first bottled-in-bond release less than two weeks ago. It’s an interesting pattern, with one company running the bonded card twice on two different brands in the same stretch of a single month.
Six years in the barrel plus a real single-barrel selection process is a legitimate step up from Redemption’s usual sourced-and-solid reputation.
The bourbon was distilled during a single distilling season at MGP’s Ross & Squibb Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, then bottled by Redemption Barrel Selections in Frankfort, Kentucky. Every bottle carries its own barrel number, distilling season, mash bill, and age statement.
The release also marks the return of Redemption’s Higher Marques Collection, the brand’s tier for limited, elevated expressions — this is the first bottle in the relaunched lineup. Redemption’s 18-Year-Old Bourbon from the Ancients Series is coming back too, in limited quantities this fall, following its 2025 debut.
