Godzilla turns 70 this year. Pabst Blue Ribbon is celebrating with a special collaborative can featuring the iconic creature. The team-up with Toho International sees cool artwork on some 60 million cans of the popular macro beer this fall.
The artwork is by Attack Peter, a Cuban-American artist known for portraying iconic monsters like Alien and Creature from the Black Lagoon. It’s retro in look and evokes comic strips of old. It’s yet another installment in PBR’s art can series.
“Bringing the legendary Godzilla character into PBR’s world is massive on its own, but teaming up with Attack Peter on the designs completely leveled this partnership up. His style and process of hand-carving these illustrations continues to push the boundaries of what the PBR art series is all about,” said Rachel Keeton, senior brand director at Pabst Blue Ribbon.

The artwork features on both the cans and the packaging. Seeing the King of the Monsters on a can has put us in the mood for Halloween and the best classic horror films. Fans of the film might want to collect a box or can for good measure.
“The King of the Monsters has smashed open so many doors for me and today is a continuation of that epic journey!” says Attack Peter. “I’m so incredibly fortunate to work alongside Toho International and Pabst Blue Ribbon to bring my linoleum block print designs honoring Godzilla, Mothra, Mechagodzilla and King Ghidorah from my studio in Miami into your coolers, parties and anywhere else that calls for a monster sized celebration!”
PBR is the longstanding American brewery with roots in Milwaukee going back to 1844. The beer typically comes in the recognizable blue and red can and has become wildly popular especially at the best dive bars in the land. Toho International is a Tokyo-based studio.
