Italian coffee brand Lavazza brings single-serve espresso tablets to the U.S.

Lavazza brings coffee "tablet" maker to the U.S.

Following a successful run in Italy, Italian coffee brand Lavazza is bringing its innovative single-serve tablets to the U.S. market. This US debut of the Tablì coffee system marks an important shift for the brand, offering a coffee machine that uses only tablets made of 100% of coffee for single-serve use.

Unlike most single-serve coffee and espresso makers on the market, Lavazza’s Tablì tabs do not include a capsule, coating, or fillers. This new format could completely change the U.S. single-serve coffee market, as coffee drinkers seek to remove added plastics and chemicals from their daily cups. Available for preorder now, the Tablì coffee system can only be used exclusively with Tablì tablets. Beyond the machine itself, the presale bundle also includes a milk frother and a 60-count pack of Tablì tablets. Lavazza will officially launch these single-serve espresso tablets in August.

Unique to the Tablì machine, this innovative coffee extraction technology produces each espresso with Crema Plus: producing a rich, velvety and persistent coffee crema, the foam that tops a freshly made espresso. As someone who gave up on using Nespresso pods awhile ago, I can see this new innovation becoming a real hit in the U.S.

Today’s coffee consumers are becoming increasingly aware of things like microplastics — and this innovation from Lavazza gets ahead of the curve. We’ve seen a decreasing interest in the “old” way of making single-service coffee via K-cups over the past few years. This new launch could be the start of a new trend in at-home coffee and espresso brewing.

Herradura is bringing back its 110-proof tequila, the strongest it’s ever made
Alcohol, Beverage, Tequila

How high in ABV can a mass-market tequila get? Herradura is looking to find out, with the return of Directo de Alambique, an unaged, still-strength expression bottled at 110 proof at Casa Herradura in Amatitán, Jalisco.

The tequila first appeared in 2012 as a small-batch experiment and developed a cult following among collectors before disappearing. The brand says the 2026 return comes after years of requests from drinkers hunting down old bottles.

How to Enjoy Fine Tequila Even More? Ditch Limes for an Orange Slice

An interviewer once famously asked Keith Richards how he had survived decades of rock ‘n’ roll debauchery—heights of hedonism that had sent so many of his cultural contemporaries to an early grave. His answer was surprisingly pragmatic: whatever the vice, he indulged thoughtfully rather than recklessly. And he insisted on only the finest, purest product money could buy. When it came to illicit vices, the King of Riffs exercised discernment as polished as his taste in guitars.

While my indulgences are, on the whole, tamer than Keith’s, I have taken his philosophy to heart when it comes to booze. Especially as hangovers grow more vicious with each passing year, I demand maximum enjoyment from every pour. Every drop of alcohol that touches my should be premium—and consumed thoughtfully.
