In the pantheon of blended Scotch whiskies, there are no bigger names than Johnnie Walker. You can’t go wrong with any of the whiskies in its expansive portfolio. But, if you’re looking to try something different, the brand recently announced the launch of a new blended whisky that combines the worlds of American bourbon and Scottish whisky.

Johnnie Walker Black Cask Blended Scotch Whisky

It’s called Johnnie Walker Black Cask Blended Scotch Whisky, and it was created by Johnnie Walker Master Blender Dr. Emma Walker using specially selected whiskies from “the heart of Johnnie Walker Black Label” (including those from Cameronbridge, Glen Elgin, and Roseisle). All included whiskies were aged completely in ex-bourbon barrels. According to the brand, the result is an 86-proof whisky with flavors of oak, toasted vanilla beans, caramelized sugar, and warming baking spices. It’s perfect for sipping neat, on the rocks, or mixed into your favorite whisky-based cocktails.

“At Johnnie Walker, we are constantly pushing the boundaries of what great whisky can be,” Dr. Emma Walker says.

“For more than 200 years, Johnnie Walker has shaped the world of Scotch, and that heritage gives us the confidence and authority to innovate. With Black Cask, we’ve brought together two remarkable whisky traditions in a way only Johnnie Walker can, starting with some of the most expressive whiskies from the heart of Black Label and maturing them exclusively in American white oak ex–bourbon barrels to unlock new depth, sweetness, and warmth. The result is a beautifully layered whisky that feels excitingly new yet remains unmistakably Johnnie Walker.”

Where can I buy it?

Johnnie Walker Black Cask will be available beginning next month at retailers throughout the US for a suggested retail price of $34.99 per 750ml bottle.
