Love is brewing in more than ways than one. With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, Instacart has just released a new data report that reveals how Americans show love through gifting, food, and last-minute surprises (think surprising your loved one with their favorite chocolates or Starbucks coffee). Based on last year’s purchase data, Instacart found that Valentine’s Day ranks among the top two gifting days of the year on Instacart, second only to Mother’s Day. But what are people using Instacart to order?
The new data report suggests classic Valentine’s Day gifts still win, such as orders for roses, bouquets, chocolate candies, and chocolate-covered fruit. Orders for roses (+1,933%), combination bouquets (+1,459%), chocolate-covered fruit (+4,693%), and plush toys (+1,867%) surge on February 14. Of all the states, Mississippi leads the nation for Valentine’s-related orders, followed by Alabama, Montana, Hawaii, and Idaho.
For the coffee lover in your life, you can now pair a Valentine’s Day coffee order with a little extra something special with Instacart’s new 1-800-Flowers.com same-day floral delivery. Partnering with local florists nationwide, this comes just in time to make Valentine’s Day easy. They have also partnered with local retailers for self-care gifts through stores like Sephora and Valentine’s Day essentials (cards, candy, coffee, etc) at stores like CVS and Walgreens. Instacart+ members placing Valentine’s Day orders get $0 grocery delivery fees on orders of $10 or more and $0 restaurant delivery fees on eligible orders of $25 more (if your Valentine’s Day date looks like ordering in take out and a move night).
