How to make a Blackberry Bramble cocktail with barrel-aged gin

There’s a lot on the docket. Coming right up are big events and holidays like the Kentucky Derby, Cinco de Mayo, the Champions League Final, and Mother’s Day. In other words, cause for celebration abound.

This one came to us billed us a Father’s Day cocktail and while we agree, we think it’s good just about anytime (and all the better when berries are in season). The drink is built for warm days and bright sunshine. And it even involves a little flair as you add the float.

So, as you work your way through the many new non-alcoholic beers and spring cocktail recipes out there, consider this one too. It features a barrel-aged gin, something you should get into if you haven’t already. While great as a standalone sipper, it’s also a nice liquid to build a cocktail around.

Waterloo Blackberry Bramble

It may not be summer yet but it will feel like it with this warm-weather treat.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces Waterloo Barrel Aged Gin
  • 1/2 ounce blackberry liqueur
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup
  • Fresh blackberries for garnish
  • Fresh sage for garnish

Method:

  1. In a cocktail glass, muddle 2–3 blackberries with simple syrup.
  2. Fill the glass with crushed ice, then add Waterloo Gin and lemon juice and gently stir to combine.
  3. Float the blackberry liqueur over the top using the back of a spoon.
  4. Garnish with fresh blackberries and a sprig of sage.
