Red Wing finally puts its most beloved leather on the Iron Ranger

It's the first time Oro Legacy leather, best known from the Moc Toe, has appeared on Red Wing's classic Iron Ranger silhouette.

Red Wing is one of the most well-known bootmakers in the US, so it’s worth noticing when the brand shifts anything on its heritage lineup. The latest shift: the Iron Ranger boot is now available in Oro Legacy leather, better known as the material behind the brand’s iconic Moc Toe.

This marks the first time it’s appeared on the classic 6-inch cap toe boot. Oro Legacy is a proprietary, full-grain, oil-tanned leather developed with S.B. Foot Tanning Company, prized for its softness and its ability to build a rich patina over time.

The boot keeps the Iron Ranger’s usual construction: a Goodyear welt, Puritan triple-stitch, nickel speed hooks, leather insoles, and a cork midsole that molds to the foot over time.

“The Iron Ranger is one of the most classic styles in the Red Wing Heritage collection, with a design that has remained relevant for generations,” said Amy Peck, VP of product innovation at Red Wing. “This latest evolution stays true to the boot’s roots while continuing our commitment to craftsmanship, quality materials, and products that only get better with age.”

Two Red Wing icons, one new boot

The Iron Ranger dates back to the 1930s, built originally for iron miners working Minnesota’s Mesabi Range. Oro Legacy, meanwhile, made its name almost entirely through the Moc Toe, a completely different silhouette with its own separate following. For two products this central to Red Wing’s identity, it’s a little surprising they hadn’t crossed paths on the brand’s flagship boot before now.

Red Wing also occupies a very specific spot in the wider world of American-made heritage boots. Pacific Northwest names like White’s and Wesco routinely run $600 to $800 a pair, and newer, smaller-batch makers like Truman Boot Co. sit close to $500.

Red Wing lives in the mid-$300 range, so it’s arguably the most accessible on-ramp into that same tradition of thick leather, Goodyear welts, and boots built to be resoled for decades rather than replaced. It’s also one of the few that consistently offers wide sizing across its lines. For longtime fans who’ve owned a pair or more, this new color combo should be interesting, particularly if the brand includes sizing beyond the usual D.

Where to buy it

The Iron Ranger in Oro Legacy leather is available now for $359.99 at redwingshoes.com and select retailers.

80 grand for this new G-Shock? Casio says it’s worth it
Watch, Face, Numbers

Sapphire is great at plenty of things: resisting scratches, looking expensive, and… shattering when you drop it. That last one isn’t normally an issue for a G-Shock, a watch whose whole personality is built around not breaking at all.

So naturally, Casio had to challenge the status quo, and spent roughly eight years making a G-Shock out of sapphire.

James Bond style on International James Bond Day: These are the best looks James Bond ever wore
Sean Connery as James Bond

It is no secret that James Bond is one of the most stylish men in fiction. He has been a pillar of fashion and has driven fashion for men since he launched on October 5th, 1962. 64 years later, we still look to him for inspiration. But what is it about the debonair double-0 that keeps us enthralled with his sartorial choices? I can tell you it is because he follows the simple rule of fit over fashion. He doesn’t wear bright colors or crazy patterns. His looks are timeless and elegant. And, all of them fit perfectly. Everything looks as though it was made for him. That is why James Bond style endures. And since we’re celebrating James Bond today for International James Bond Day with a book, a watch, and rankings of his best movies and actors, I figured we couldn’t pass up the chance to check out his favorite looks too.

But with 25 movies under his belt, there are hundreds of looks to choose from when picking his best. So, I scoured the films (tough job) and came up with my favorite looks from 007.
