We are almost finished with August. Pre-season football is almost over. Baseball is heating up towards the playoffs. And, of course, I am starting to get itchy for the wardrobe flipover to the jackets, sweaters, and boots of fall. There are a lot of things to look forward to in the transition season between the heat and the cold. But, for me, it is the comfortable temperatures allowing for outfit versatility in some of my favorite things. Bonfires, campfires, fireplaces (along with many other things not set aflame), there is just something perfect about the crackle of a fire and the cut of the wind signaling winter is on the way. The holiday season is starting to get close. The leaves are beginning to change. Everything about the time of year is set up to bring comfort and warmth.
Taylor Stitch is ready. They seem to be looking forward to it as much as me as they dropped their Fall/Winter 2026 lookbook to put us in the mood.
Facing East to the Autumn
I don’t know why they called it Facing East in their think tank, but I know why I would have called it that. There is no better place to experience the fall than in the Northeast. Autumn is a different place in Central Park. In Connecticut. In Maine. No place else in the country experiences color changes as they do up there. The road trips are better. The wind feels crisper. Maybe that is why this lookbook feels like fall to me; they found a way to tap into the emotions of that autumn night. It may be near 100 degrees still in places around the country, but Facing East has me longing for a cozy sweater.

The Hatteras Anorak – Jackets are the second best thing about September through November. The versatility of a good lightweight jacket is unrivaled. The Anorak takes the fisherman’s weatherproof shell and makes it stylish. Throw it on over a fall look for the day out or combine it with your duck boots for a real fall adventure.
The Dory Crew Sweater – Remember I said jackets were second best? Sweaters are first best. I said what I said, and I won’t be taking questions. They are staples, but they don’t have to be boring. This washed indigo color will be the most unique and loved sweater of the season.
The Breakwater Pant – Up top, I talked about all the fire-lit events I was looking forward to. Maybe none more than the fireplace, with an old-fashioned and a good book. Maybe a cigar. Either way, the Breakwater is a staple, and it isn’t left out of Facing East.
