These are officially the 50 best bars in the world for 2025

It’s official, the drinks world has spoken. The World’s 50 Best Bars 2025 list was announced Wednesday, October 8, in Hong Kong, and for the first time ever, Asia has claimed the No. 1 spot.

Topping this year’s list is Bar Leone in Hong Kong, a cocktail destination that’s as effortlessly cool as it is meticulously crafted. Founded by Rome-born bartender Lorenzo Antinori, Bar Leone takes its cues from Italian pop culture, cocktail history, and classic bartending finesse. Antinori, who honed his craft at top bars in London, Seoul, and Hong Kong, calls his creation a love letter to cocktail popolari – simple, elegant drinks made with heart and precision.

Second place went to Handshake Speakeasy in Mexico City, the moody, Prohibition-era hideaway that topped last year’s list and continues to wow with its inventive twists on vintage classics. Rounding out the top three is Sips in Barcelona, a sleek spot combining high design with equally high cocktail artistry.

Savannah is one of those cities that seems almost too easy to like. The live oaks are dramatic. The Spanish moss does exactly what it is supposed to do. The brick sidewalks buckle in all the right places. The houses look like they were designed by people who understood proportion, shade, and the value of a proper front step. Even the light seems to arrive with better manners than it does in most places.

I have a built-in advantage when it comes to Savannah. We have family there, so we have been back several times, not just once for the checklist version of the city. I have also done a photography workshop there, which is a terrific way to learn any city. You get up early, stay out late, and pay attention to alleys, doorways, ironwork, reflections, and the way a city changes when the tourists are still asleep.
