Japanese Airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) has revealed new business class seating on its international Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. ANA named the new seating product “The Room FX”, with “FX” denoting “Future Experience”. The airline will begin the cabin overhaul in 2026, which will include new seats in all classes.

“The Room FX” design notes

ANA designed “The Room FX” in collaboration with London’s Acumen Design Associates and aircraft interior specialist, Safran Seats. The renovated 787-9s will include 48 business class seats in a 1-2-1 setup, arranged across 12 rows. Each seat will have a privacy door, with each switching between forward and rearward facing. A unique element is the “no recline” design, with a central leg rest converting the seat into a flat configuration. The bed is 76.5” long by 41.5’ wide.

Technology-wise, the seat has a 24” monitor with Bluetooth audio. Device charging options abound, with wireless, USB-A, USB-C, and AC.

Ian Dryburgh, CEO of Acume, said: “‘THE Room FX’ project is a result of a profound long-standing partnership between ANA, Acumen and Safran – shaped by years of trust, creativity and innovation. Building on the success and DNA of the ‘The Room’ B777, this next-generation suite elevates the flying experience with a rare balance of comfort, flexibility and elegant engineering. This is a refreshingly original and market leading Business Class product that we believe will exceed passengers’ expectations for many years to come.”

Victoria Foy, CEO of Safran Seats, said: “At Safran Seats, we are proud to deepen our long-standing partnership with ANA through the launch of ‘THE Room FX.’ This new business class seat represents a step-change in comfort, versatility, and innovative design for the Boeing 787-9. By combining our engineering expertise with ANA’s commitment to passenger excellence and Acumen’s creative vision, we are setting new benchmarks in the world of premium air travel.”

London has no shortage of rooftop bars. Florattica still stands out
This East London rooftop bar proves you don't need to be 50 floors up to impress
Bar, Person, Candle

London does not need another rooftop bar. The city has them stacked on top of skyscrapers, tucked behind hotel lobbies, and squeezed onto buildings where you'd swear there isn't room for a bar, let alone a view. So when a new one claims to be worth your evening, it has some convincing to do.

Florattica, perched on the 11th floor of Canopy by Hilton London City, did the convincing. It just recently picked up its first PIN from The Pinnacle Guide, and after a night spent working through its cocktail menu (slowly, responsibly, mostly), it's easy to see why.
